Greetings,

As I traveled this weekend around metro Atlanta and into the South Georgia area, smiling faces greeted me without hesitation. People of all ages, races and ethnicities were out and about in the awesome sunshine. All of them seemed to be extremely happy just to be outside and going places. Some of them commented on that fact with a sense of pure joy. It was as if we were all in a Sci-Fi movie emerging from cocoons.

With that same emotion, I hope you are having a great weekend. Let’s remember, as we observe Memorial Day, the brave men and women who served in our military and gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Let’s also bring that joy to the libraries.

As May ends and June 1st arrives, you are invited to come back inside the libraries Monday through Saturday.  Please see the information below about the operational hours and other pertinent news.

We are back and ready to serve you!

LIBRARY REOPENS FOR IN-PERSON SERVICES MONDAY - SATURDAY
The Fulton County Library System has announced the full time reopening of 32 branch libraries, as well as the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History on Tuesday, June 1st.

During this second phase of the Library’s reopening plan, all 32 branch libraries, as well as the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American History and Culture will open full time for in-person services. In-person services will be available on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Wednesdays - Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.  Computer use will continue to be available to all patrons for one hour per day, six days a week.

During this phase of the Library’s reopening, the Library would like to remind patrons of some important changes:
·      Curbside Services will no longer be available.
·      Meeting, conference and study rooms will remain closed.
·      Patrons are asked to wear masks (regardless of vaccination status) and maintain social distancing.
·      Self-serve options will remain in place and are recommended for in-branch services like self-checkout machines for paying fines and fees.

For more information on the Library's reopening plan, visit www.fulcolibrary.org.
If your family is fully vaccinated, you might be planning your first family trip soon. If you are, don't miss out on these free resources available to our patrons!

Stop arguments in the car by downloading an audiobook everyone can get behind - and give your group something to discuss afterwards. While our Family Road Trip Audiobook collection does include the usual all ages fare like The Hobbit and A Wrinkle in Time, those with a higher average age in the car might consider a celebrity biography or a true-crime thriller for the trip! Be sure to check the run time of your downloaded audiobook - some titles have run times of six hours, while our Audiobooks for Smaller Ears collection contains many stories that will run out after an hour.
Not in the mood for a story? Try downloading tracks from Freegal, or stream for free while you're at the beach! Going to a place where you'd like to speak another language? Mango can help you order your meals and more.

Planning to read on the beach? Why not engage with our Online Book Club by picking up the current selection The Leavers by Lisa Ko? The Leavers is available as a no wait download on Hoopla and through the Online Book Club itself!
