It’s tournament time! Beginning on March 1, libraries across Massachusetts are competing in a March Madness-inspired reading competition, "Minute Madness!" Help Hamilton-Wenham Public Library to win by logging your reading time on Beanstack during the month of March. Libraries will compete head-to-head in a bracket-style tournament where the library with the most weekly minutes in each bracket moves to the next round. All reading counts: books, graphic novels, audiobooks, magazines, and newspapers.
While Hamilton-Wenham Public Library is only competing for the glory, participating Hamilton-Wenham patrons who earn challenge badges will be eligible to enter raffles to win small prizes. Raffles will be available for children, teens, & adults, and winners will be notified after the challenge ends on March 31.
Patrons of all ages are welcome to participate.

Star Gazing, The Moon, & Eclipses with the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club
Thursday, April 4, 7:00-9:00pm
|
Learn about the Earth's moon and why we have solar & lunar eclipses!
In this 30 minute presentation, with North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club (NSAAC) Star Party Coordinator, Brewster LaMacchia, we'll start with a look at the event 4.5 billion years ago, referred to as the Big Splat, that led to the formation of Earth's moon. Using a variety of simple models we'll develop an intuitive understanding about the moon's orbit around Earth, moon phases, and what it takes for eclipses to happen. After the presentation we'll head outside to look through telescopes provided by volunteers from the NSAAC.
Best for ages 10 and up. No registration required. In the case of rain/cloudy weather the star gazing portion of the evening will be postponed till April 16 at 7:30pm.

March-April Artist: Peter Concannon |
Visit us to enjoy the works of Peter Concannon, on display from March 4 through April 27!
Peter has been a launch operator at a local yacht club since 2005 and a recreational lobsterman for decades. Customers occasionally share their catch with him to use as bait. Often the specimens are too beautiful to be placed unceremoniously in traps, leading to Peter's experimentation with Gyotaku (Japanese 魚拓, from gyo "fish" + taku "rubbing").
Peter uses block printing ink on rice paper in an attempt to capture respectful portrayals of these magnificent, multi-faceted creatures. Peter has won awards in regional juried shows in Beverly and Newburyport, and has been featured in Artscope Magazine.
