Voting resources available for Primary

The Voters Guide publication, a round up of candidate and issues information for Portage County, may be new to some but it's been a core public service of LWV Kent for more than 50 years. Two ways to get your ballot information:

An online resource powered by Leagues across the nation, which allows voters to see their ballot information; content entered by candidates.

A downloadable, printable format with Portage County voting information gathered by LWV Kent and LWV of Northern Portage; content entered by candidates.

Share these resources with family and friends.

We're back....with tech help for members' social media, next session on Thursday, March 7, before All Member Meeting

We can’t emphasize enough the importance of member participation in the petition-signing process! One way to help from your phone or laptop is to use your Facebook page to promote petition-signing locations. LWV Kent TECHLab is a great way to find out more about social media and how to use it to support the effort.

The next TECHLab will be Thursday, April 1, 6 p.m. before the All Member Meeting at Kent Social Services.

Volunteer to collect signatures, Thursday, March 14, at KSU event

Kent Leaguers will be collecting signatures Thursday, March 14, outside the KSU Kiva before and after the speech by David Hogg, a survivor of the 2018 Parkland shooting, co-founder of "March for Our Lives" and president of "Leaders We Deserve."

To volunteer, contact Anne Reid at areid@kent.edu or Iris Meltzer at iris.meltzer@gmail.com. Time frames would be from 3 to 7 pm. This event is being sponsored by the student-led May 4 Task Force.

If you are new to petition-signature collecting, you must be trained on the specific requirements for gathering valid signatures. You can sign up for online training sessions March 5, 12, 26 (as well as addiitonal dates) here. If you don’t want to wait, you can listen to this recording, view these slides, and then take this online quiz.

Once you’ve been trained and have petitions, carry them with you and as you meet with friends and family, ask them to sign your petition(s).

Have questions or an idea for a location to collect signatures? Email Iris Meltzer. You also can download a tool kit here from Citizens Not Politicians for more information. Need to know more about the proposed amendment? Click here.
