Lest We Forget
For more than four years, the war raged on. Then, at 11:00 a.m. on November 11 (the 11th month of the year), 1918 the guns stopped firing. World War I was over. The armistice – the agreement to end the war – had been signed.
In the United States, November 11 was called ‘Armistice Day’, until 1954, when Armistice Day was changed to ‘Veterans Day’. It became a day to honor all the men and women who have served in our nation’s armed forces.
We want to thank the merchants and friends of Lafayette for sponsoring the flags this year!
U.S. Bank, Al Aragon
Safeway
Bill Eames
Gus Kramer
(If interested in being a flag sponsor, please contact Mary Lou Till at mtill@sereno.com.)

Walnut Creek Chamber Civic Affairs Forum: RHNA & WALNUT CREEK'S HOUSING CHALLENGES
Tuesday, November 9, 9am-10am, Online
Our expert panel tackles California’s housing supply and explains why cities across the state need to increase production.
Every eight years, the state determines how much and what kind of housing each city in California needs to build to meet growing population demands. The allotment, known as the Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA), renews this year and requires cities across the state to plan for the development of far more housing than ever before.
What does this mean for Walnut Creek? Find out on November 9 when Matt Regan, Senior Vice President of Public Policy at the Bay Area Council is joined by Andrew Smith, Senior Planner at the City of Walnut and Kristin Connelly, President & CEO of the East Bay Leadership Council in a riveting conversation moderated by Edward Del Beccaro, Executive Vice President San Francisco Bay Area at TRI Commercial.
