Dear Parents,
This week in the Science Lab, our students learned about the sun and how powerful it can be. They learned that hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen can protect them from the sun's harmful rays. Next, they used special sun print paper to print items with the help of the sun. They also loved getting to use solar beads. These beads are UV-activated. They start as white and turn different colors when exposed to the UV of the sun. The kids were excited to take home the beads and the sun print paper.
This week we set out the list for parents to sign up to take their summer vacations. Please look at your calendars now so that you can let us know IF you want to take time off please let us know in the next 2 weeks so we can make sure your account is not billed and we can plan our staff schedules.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude for our wonderful school families. This week the parents of Blue Door sponsored a wonderful teacher appreciation lunch. With each one, our staff feels so very loved. The signup sheet went up today for the families of Rainbow Class who will be sponsoring the lunch for next week. I know it will be another treat-filled day next Thursday!!
Finally, at this time every year, parents ask about appropriate year end gifts for teachers who have spent their entire time loving your nurturing your child. Just like the concept of giving a server a tip for excellent service, many years back a parent suggested the same for staff gifts. This way teachers can purchase things they want or need with their appreciation gifts. In a week or so, all students will be given a little envelope. Participation is optional...If you wish to participate, simply place any amount of cash in the envelope or return the envelope with a note to BILL BRIGHTWHEEL any amount you choose. Although the SUGGESTED donation is $10-$15 per teacher in the room, the amount you donate is up to you based on your level of gratitude. The envelope with be marked with the number of staff in the room.
Please know that it takes a village to teach a child. For this reason, 10% of all contributions collected will be set aside to share with Miriam & Nisha of the office staff, Maria from the Kitchen, and Jackie who is our head of security and soccer coach.
