Bob Richmond

Bob was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia. He moved to Ohio in 1969. Bob worked in the manufacturing industry during his career. In 2012, he retired from Leland-Gifford Inc., a company that builds machine tools for the metal working industry.
Between Bob and Meg, they have five children, fourteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild. On June 7, they will celebrate thirty-two glorious years of marriage. Together they enjoy traveling and visiting different states throughout the country.
Bob’s hobbies include woodworking, building furniture and playing golf. He also enjoys watching birds at his feeders. Bob likes working with modern technology and is a self-described geek.
We are so grateful that Bob and Meg are a part of our church family.

Erv Wagner celebrated his 85th birthday on January 18.
Andrew Weyand was awarded the Medina Gazette’s player of the year/ Medina County golf MVP.

Milestones Recognition:
We will be celebrating recent milestones for members on Sunday, February 5. Engagements, drivers license, college degrees, and more. Let us know if you have a milestone to celebrate as well by January 30. There is a link to a form on the bottom of the weekly news email, paper form in the office, or email the office your special milestone. Also, please sign up in the narthex if you need a milestone wood box and/or nameplate made.

The Lunch & Learn video series, The History & Archaeology of the Bible, will be Thursday, January 26 at noon with the Empire of Alexander the Great. Signup is available in the narthex. This event will continue through Thursday, February 16. | | |
There will be a Family Game Day at the church on Sunday, February 19 from 3-5pm. We will play minute to win it games. We will also have pizza, chips, salad and cookies. There is a signup sheet on the church bulletin board, so I know how much pizza to order. Hope to see you at our first game event since the pandemic. It is good to gather together for fun and fellowship. | | |
Pancake Dinner Fundraiser for Appalachia Service Project: Tuesday, February 21 from 5-6:30PM in the Fellowship Hall.
Pancakes, sausage, juice, & coffee will be served. Suggested donation: $5; under 12 - $3.
Donations for the Blessing Box will also be accepted during this event.

Send some love to our homebound members. We’ll be doing a couple of visits on February 12 that were delayed due to Covid at facilities and mailing out Valentine cards to others. There will be a basket in the narthex if you’d like to drop off a card/note by February 5.

Lee Dean
(June 1, 1940 - January 16, 2023)
Lee passed away peacefully while under hospice care. There is no obituary and no memorial service scheduled.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dean family.

Thank you for coming for 3 Kings Day and king cake. It was good to see all of you, a variety of ages. Your singing & ringing was much appreciated. 6 residents came to hear you. Thank you for the explanation of chalking on our doors. My neighbor put hers on her door as I did too. And yes, I finally found the baby as I only eat a portion of the cake each day. You had nice weather to come and your support is appreciated. Thank you again.

Emanuel youth are invited to join First Congregational Church of Akron (UCC)'s Youth group. Amplified Youth aims to bring young people (grades 6 to 12) from First Church and other Akron-area churches together in hopes of building a strong and vibrant youth program that can impact both the lives of our youth and the community of Akron. Amplified Youth meets the third Saturday of each month from 5pm to 7pm. Gatherings will include everything from movies to dinner to games, and more!
