COVID Update
Covid Update - Mask Requirement Reinstated
If Covid has taught us anything, it is flexibility... Given the recent uptick in cases in the community (COVID ActNow Data) and our own congregation, the Leadership Team has decided to reinstate the mask requirement in the building temporarily, at least until case numbers show a steady decline.

Effective immediately, please wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask (KN95, KF94, or N95) whenever you are in the building.

Please do not come to church if you are not feeling well in any way and consider whether to attend if you are a recent close contact of someone with Covid as we are seeing higher transmission with the BA.2 variant, even among the fully vaccinated. At this time, we are still planning to hold Sunday forums and coffee hour. We ask that people keep masks on except when actively eating and drinking. We will evaluate the situation weekly and let you know of any changes.

If you are in need of home tests, MN Dept of Health and the US government are both offering four free tests per household.

If you happen to test positive and were at church in the prior 48 hours, please email office@stdavidsparish.org. If you are scheduled to serve in worship and test positive, are a close contact, or have any symptoms, please reach out to Katherine (katherine@stdavidsparish.org).

We will continue to Facebook Livestream the Sunday 9:30 service and upload later to YouTube.

Your Leadership Team,
Katherine Lewis, Rector
Randy Schwichtenberg, Sr. Warden
Allison Ferro, Jr. Warden
Youth Sunday
Last Sunday we had middle and high school youth lead worship and at coffee hour, we heard from Mary and Soren, leaders from the Minnetonka Coalition for Equitable Education.

If you want more information or handouts from MCEE, please check the bulletin board outside the church office! This bulletin board will continue to be updated with upcoming events and updates from ministry partners. Check it out next time you're in the building!
Thanks youth volunteers!

Thank you to all the middle and high school youth who participated in the youth led worship this past Sunday.

Special thanks to Ally C.for creating the art for the bulletin cover, Peter H. for preaching and percussion, Chloe J., Sonia S., Emery N., and Mari R. for singing, Amelia K. and Emery N. for reading, and Alex V.J. and Owen K. for ushering.

Interested in what youth are up to inside and outside the church? Check out the children and youth bulletin board outside the Children and Youth Minister's office!
Pentecost
When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force—no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building. Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks, and they started speaking in a number of different languages as the Spirit prompted them. Acts 2:1-4, translation from The Message

On the Day of Pentecost, Sunday, June 5, we'll celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. Join us at worship at 9:30 (one service only), wearing colors of the flame: red, orange yellow!

Do you read/speak in a language other than English? We invite you to join in on the reading from the Acts of the Apostles that day, Acts 2:1-21. Please sign up on the sign up sheet in the Narthex or email Interim Office Assistant Anna Brock at office@stdavidsparish.org to read, specifying which language. Bring your own translation that day or ask Anna for help if you need a copy printed at church.
All Parish Picnic
Sunday, June 5th

The Bouncy House has been ordered, the grills are getting cleaned, and our yearning to gather together for an old fashioned church potluck is at its peak!

It is now time to resurrect our traditional outdoor parish picnic after a long 2 year hiatus. All are welcomed to come partake in this fun, delicious get-together on Sunday June 5th right after church.

As always, we appreciate a count of attendees, and a mention of what you would like to bring to share (side dish, salad, or dessert). Burgers, hotdogs, buns, condiments, and beverages will be provided. Please sign up from the below SignUpGenius link, or opt to sign up by pen to paper in the undercroft. If you are unable to bring a dish to share, no worries...please just come as you are as there is always plenty of food!

Here's to seeing all Sunday, June 5th under sunny skies--fingers crossed!

St. David's Book Club News
St. David’s Book Club will meet on Tuesday, 6/7 from 6:30 pm to 7:55 pm via Zoom. We will be discussing The Sentence by Louise Erdrich.

"In this stunning and timely novel, Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning author Louise Erdrich creates a wickedly funny ghost story, a tale of passion, of a complex marriage and of a woman's relentless errors. Louise Erdrich's latest novel, The Sentence, asks what we owe to the living, the dead, to the reader and to the book. A small independent bookstore in Minneapolis is haunted from November 2019 to November 2020 by the store's most annoying customer. Flora dies on All Souls' Day, but she simply won't leave the store. Tookie, who has landed a job selling books after years of incarceration that she survived by reading 'with murderous attention' must solve the mystery of this haunting while at the same time trying to understand all that occurs in Minneapolis during a year of grief, astonishment, isolation and furious reckoning. The Sentence begins on All Souls' Day 2019 and ends on All Souls' Day 2020. Its mystery and proliferating ghost stories during this one year propel a narrative as rich, emotional and profound as anything Louise Erdrich has written"

This is the second Erdrich book we have read in 2022. Part of the discussion will compare The Night Watchman and The Sentence. Please join us!

Invitation from the Rev. Aaron Twait
Dear St. David's Friends,

It’s a pleasure to invite you to my ordination to the priesthood on Saturday, June 18th at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Minneapolis!  The service begins at 10:30, and the nave will open for seating at 10:00. Masking requirements are in effect. If you aren't able to come but would like to watch, the ordinations will be livestreamed on ECMN's Facebook page. For those who do attend in person, there will be a reception at the Cathedral following the ordination service. I hope that I'll be able to see many of you there!

I'm grateful to everyone at St. David's for all your support, prayers, and guidance during my internship and since then. My time with you has formed me for ministry in very important ways, and I'm much better equipped to serve in God's church as a result!

Blessings,
 - The Rev. Aaron Twait

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.

If you find yourself in need of food or other resources, please contact:
Steve Johnson at: twokat@centurylink.net or (952) 237-0031
or:
The Rev. Katherine Lewis at: klewis@stdavidsparish.org or (612) 747-5405

and we will assist you in finding solutions.
