Sunday, May 5 - We Care Meeting

On Sunday, May 5, there will be a WE CARE meeting in Dove Hall at 9:15. All are invited to attend: current WE CARE team, possible WE CARE team member, curious but unsure about committing to being a part of WE CARE. Please join Susan Kane and Liz Cannizzaro to talk about what WE CARE does, has done and could do in the future with your help. Questions? Email Susan: sueandbob95@gmail.com or Liz: jemcan1@comcast.net. We’re looking forward to seeing you on May 5!

Time for a Bonfire! 6 pm, May 9

On Ascension Thursday, which falls on May 9 this year, we will be having a bonfire! We like bonfires and we also need to burn 3 years’ worth of blessed palms, Books of Common Prayer which are no longer usable, old Pascal candles, and the like.

Bring some dinner for yourselves and we’ll make it a picnic! This is a Choir Dinner Thursday, so we’re inviting the choir to join us outside to dine, then head in at the appropriate time to rehearse.

May 18 - Diocesan Confirmations

Four of our CHS youth have chosen to be confirmed this year:

• Jasmine Marlow
• Grayson Woodell
• Luke Schnaudt 
• Lily Wyglendowski 

The celebration will be held at a diocesan-wide service on Saturday May 18th at 10am at the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral

Care Parcel Project

HMC has recently seen a significant increase in homeless patients, and the staff has become concerned about discharging them when it is apparent the patients walk out the door with virtually nothing to tide them over.  

Our project is to collect items for 40 care parcels that can be given to these people when they are discharged.

Sunday's readings urge believers to come together in a community characterized by love. In his sermon, Peter tells Cornelius of God’s work in Jesus Christ, thus opening the doors of the Church to Gentiles. The author of 1 John describes Jesus as God’s love for us, and calls us to embrace one another in that love. In the gospel, Jesus tells his disciples that they have been chosen to love one another; in this they will find perfect joy.
