School Safety - Pedestrian Safety

As the weather starts to warm, more students will be walking or riding their bikes to school. Please be more attentive and slow down in the parking lots. Follow the flow of traffic as we have seen some cars cutting through the parking lots or dropping their children off further away from doors and making them walk through cars to enter the building. Also, as more children start going to the rec and civic center after school please inform/speak to your children about using the sidewalks and crosswalks when they are going there from the school. We have had complaints in the past of Middle school children cutting through the fields and coming out by the trees across from the library and illegally crossing the street. Most of our High School student drivers and buses exit from the High School lots and travel east on Selig past the area where kids are jaywalking. Please tell your kids it is much safer to cross the street in the crosswalks at Selig and Vineyard/Kathy Lynn.
