The Department of Parks & Recreation advises citizens that the Mt. Hope Community Center will have temporary closures Monday, Aug. 22 through Friday, Aug. 26, from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily due to construction on the communications tower.

Calvert County Parks & Recreation (CCPR) has registered more than 1,200 children for the 2022 fall soccer league and we need coaches! Three to four hours of time each week could make all the difference for our young athletes. Volunteer coaches run two, one-hour practices on weeknights of their choosing and coach one game on Saturdays. Practices are scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 22, 2022 and the season runs through mid-November.

If you are interested in volunteering to coach this season, please email sports@calvertcountymd.gov.
The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter is at capacity and will waive adoption fees for all animals through Aug. 31. Regular adoption procedures still apply.

It’s a great time to visit the shelter to find the perfect companion. With an overabundance of animals at the shelter, we need our community’s support to find these animals happy new homes.

Whether folks are looking to adopt, foster or give their time to volunteer, every little bit makes a huge impact.
