Cognitive Jobs Demands Analysis

Register now for our June 4, 2024 Workshop, Presented in partnership with Millard Health

Cognitive Job Demands Analysis (JDA) is a method used to assess the mental tasks and cognitive requirements essential for specific job roles. It evaluates the mental tasks involved, such as decision-making, problem-solving, memory usage, attention to detail, and other cognitive functions necessary to perform a job effectively. This type of analysis is particularly useful in designing jobs, training programs, and work environments that maximize employee productivity and satisfaction, while also addressing mental workload and preventing cognitive overload.

AMHSA is pleased to provide information, resources and seminars that will assist you in deploying this powerful tool. We've partnered with Millard Health to bring you the Cognitive-Psychosocial Job Demands Analysis Workshop, presented in-person or via Zoom on June 4, 2024. This no-cost workshop has been pre-approved by CPHR-Alberta for 4 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours and attendees will earn digital credentials offered by AMHSA. Limited seats are available - register now to secure your spot!

Visit CognitiveJDA.ca for samples of completed JDAs, information on conducting your own analysis, or to register for our upcoming workshop.

COR/Audit Updates

Complexity Based Scalable Audit (CBSA)

The provincial Complexity Based Scalable Audit working group is continuing its work to create a framework for a new audit protocol.

Partnerships released an updated journey map/timeline for the project in January 2024, with milestone dates adjusted for several items: the creation of the prototype audit tool (September 2024), COR-holder and auditor engagement (October-November 2024), and potential training and beginning of transition to new tool (January 2026).

We will communicate details related to COR-holder and auditor engagement (e.g. meetings, survey, etc.) as soon as they are available.

Background on the modernization of COR, which lead to the creation of the CBSA working group, was distributed in September 2023, and more information is also available in the October 2023 Auditor Update.

Auditor Performance Management

Concerns regarding auditor performance and/or breaches of the Auditor Code of Ethics may come to AMHSA’s attention internally through quality assurance processes or from external parties such as an auditor, employer or other individual. We have been working on development of a formal auditor performance management process which is intended to align with Partnerships Standards and to be used by the AMHSA COR team, auditors and arbitrators. The process will address the screening, investigation, decision, and appeal procedures related to these concerns. A supplementary decision tree will also be drafted to facilitate clear navigation through the process. AMHSA will ensure that the Auditor Performance Management process is available to AMHSA auditors and COR-holders as soon as it is finalized.

New Digital Credential for Auditors

To help learners communicate their achievements, AMHSA has partnered with Credly to provide digital version of training credentials. We are happy to announce that the AMHSA-Certified Auditor badge has been approved and will be launched soon! This digital badge will be issued to all currently certified AMHSA auditors, and can be used in email signatures, digital resumes, on social media, etc. to showcase your auditing certification. It will contain verified metadata that describes the qualification and the process required to earn it.

Visit AMHSAdigitalcredentials.ca for more information and to see AMHSA credentials available now.

Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) Accreditation

We are pleased to announce that AMHSA’s auditor training program has been pre-approved for continuing education units by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP). Those who complete the program are eligible for 1 CEU point under category A9 – Achieving an Additional Certification or License.

Psychological Health and Safety eLearning Certificate

AMHSA is proud to introduce a new Psychological Health & Safety e-Learning Certificate Program for leaders and employees, designed specifically to meet the demands of today’s increasingly complex workplace environment. This modular e-Learning program was developed with our strategic partner, Dr. Joti Samra and her team from MyWorkplaceHealth, and replaces AMHSA's Psychological Health and Safety Facilitators Program.
