More Info on Regathering and Annual Meeting on June 6th
In my excitement to share that we will be regathering on June 6th I left out some important details! First of all, we will continue to stream the service live to YouTube and upload an electronic copy of the bulletin to the website. We want to make sure that folks who are not yet comfortable with in person worship and folks who can’t come in person are still able to be a part of our worshiping community. Additionally, members who cannot be present in person on June 6th will be able to participate in the Annual Meeting via zoom.
In order to continue to seek the health of all in our community, masks are required to be worn and we will maintain social distance with no physical contact with someone not in your household. There may be some in our community who have been vaccinated and are okay with hugs, but there are others who, vaccinated or not, are not comfortable with hugs. In order to create an atmosphere of welcome regardless of vaccination status and/or comfort with hugs, I am asking everyone to do their part in maintaining social distance when we gather. Additionally, given the 2 out of 3 rule, beginning this Sunday when the weather allows for the 8am service to be outside, people will be allowed to remove their masks once they are in their seat. (The two out of three rule, depicted in the graphic below, says that activity with those outside of your household should have 2 of the 3 measures of health protection (mask, distance, outdoors) in place.

The disaster happening in Palestine and Israel is heartbreaking and tragic. Violence between Jews and Arabs is spreading throughout the region and rockets and bombs have hit hundreds of targets in Gaza and southern Israel. Israeli troops are shelling Gaza from the ground near the border and the threat of a ground war is very real this morning. Please pray for the people of Israel and Palestine.
Every dollar you give goes directly to Ahli Hospital. We get the funds there immediately. The gift you make today will buy supplies and medicines and support the brave nurses, doctors and staff at Ahli tomorrow. Please give generously. Please let the people of Gaza know they are not forgotten.

Kodály's Missa Brevis: A Moment of Remembrance
The churches of Trinity Episcopal, Emanuel Lutheran, and St. John's Episcopal are joining forces to perform Zoltán Kodály's masterwork for organ and choir, the Missa Brevis. Originally written in 1942 as a strictly organ work, Kodály (1882-1967) reworked it into a choral mass in 1945 while sheltering in the basement of the Budapest Opera House, during the height of the Allied bombing. The work was premiered in the cloakroom of the opera house, as it was one of the only rooms still standing during the bombings. The premiere was performed by members of the skeletal opera company, for each other, as gunfire continued raging outside.
Our collaborative production of this will include graduating choristers of the Choir School, section leaders, and hired vocal professionals, recorded by an audio engineer. The mass will be filmed in the sanctuary of Trinity Episcopal Church, with 20 musicians masked and distanced. The resulting concert video will be premiered during the last weekend of May, on a soon-to-be-determined date. All three music directors (Michelle Horsley, Scott Lamlein, and Jonathan Reuning-Scherer) will take turns conducting and playing. This concert is partially sponsored by the Jolidon Fund of the Greater Hartford Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
As we hopefully move past this COVID-19 era, we have decided to create a musical offering to recognize the global scale of loss during the pandemic and we have chosen this work as we believe in what it represents. The circumstances of the Kodály Missa Brevis speak to triumph and hope in the midst of strife and devastating isolation. We are lifting this up in response, as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

End-of-Year Choir School Concert

In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in Emanual Lutheran Church, masked and socially distanced.
Join us as we celebrate the end of a most unusual 2020-2021 Choir School season! This outdoor event will be a presentation of some of the pieces we’ve learned during our online and in-person rehearsals. Works will include favorites from our Anglican repertoire, as well as selections from Caribbean, South African, Spiritual, American Folk, and modern choral traditions. Guest singers from the Emanuel Lutheran Church community will join us on a couple songs and our graduating choristers will also be formally recognized. Some chairs will be provided, but attendees are kindly asked to bring their own chairs/blankets, if able, and to observe the socially-distant markers on the ground. Masks are required. Parking is available for free at a lot on the southwest corner of Capitol Ave and Oak St, one block away from the performance location. There is no cost for admission and no reservation is required. Join us to celebrate these wonderful choristers!

Heads Up! Hartford 2021 Summer Camp!
Heads Up Hartford has announced that it will hold a hybrid version of camp this year from June 21-27.
Campers are welcome to participate in both in-person and virtual programming, or select only virtual programs to attend.
HUH is a faith-based camp uniting urban and suburban youth to improve our communities and develop as leaders. Youth who have completed 8th-12th grade are eligible to attend. Trinity's young people have participated in HUH for many years and found it to be worthwhile and fun!
