2022 Faith and Charity Catholic Appeal - Walking by Faith
Support Others In Their Time of Need

The Annual Catholic Appeal of the Diocese of Wilmington, renamed the Faith and Charity Catholic Appeal, calls on us to walk alongside others in their time of need. This year’s theme, Walking by Faith, communicates the heart of our Church’s mission. Click here to read more about all of the ministries supported by your generous contributions.
The Faith and Charity Catholic Appeal is the single most significant contributor to Catholic Charities. Please consider participating in our Catholic Appeal and help us reach our goal of raising $5,000,000 to support our community and programs. Contributions can be made in a pledge payable over months or a one-time donation.
Donations can be made by check, credit card, PayPal, electronic bill-pay, gifts of securities, IRAs, and corporate matching gift programs. For more detailed information about the various ways to give, click here.
“I have seen the face of God in those being served by
our collective Church, and those who are serving
through our ministries and programs.”
— Bishop Koenig

Gear Up for "Stock the Pantry" Now
Hunger Doesn't Take a Vacation

Catholic Charities "Stock the Pantry" Drive is next month. We ask our communities in Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland to help us stock our food pantries throughout the Diocese. The Catholic Charities food cooperatives provide monthly distributions of food for enrolled clients who are at or below 200% of poverty. The co-op offers an ongoing, sustainable resource for savings.
All Catholic Charities locations will accept donations of nonperishable foods throughout the month of June.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Volunteer: The food cooperatives and food pantries welcome volunteers of all ages. Volunteers bag groceries for distribution, and stock the shelves with donated goods. Call the location you want to help to see what current opportunities are available. Volunteers must apply and be interviewed prior to begin work.
-
Make a donation of food. Each location has the ability to store perishable and non-perishable food items. When your supermarket is having a “Buy one, get one free” sale, donate that free item to Catholic Charities. Please call ahead to make arrangements if you plan to donate perishable items such as produce or frozen meat.
-
Organize a food drive. Ask your family, neighbors, church, fitness club or civic group to donate nonperishable and shelf-stable food items.
Donation Suggestions:
- Canned goods, like tuna, salmon, beef stew, corned beef hash, beans, soups, vegetables, and fruit
- Boxed goods, like pasta, macaroni & cheese, rice, mashed potatoes, crackers, cereal, oatmeal, and pancake mix
- Jars of peanut butter and jelly
- Juice, coffee, tea, hot cocoa mix, instant breakfasts
- Shelf-stable milk – either dry or evaporated
- Condiments: spreads, ketchup, mustard, relish, barbecue sauce, pickles and pancake syrup
- Baby food, baby cereal
- Grocery store gift cards
We also welcome donations of cleaning products, dish detergent, paper goods, and personal care items like shampoo, soap and grocery gift cards.

Act Now to Reduce Your Tax Liability While Helping Others
Reserve Your Delaware Tax Credit with
Your Catholic Charities Contribution

Donations to Catholic Charities qualify for tax credits under the Delaware State Housing Authority’s Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Program.
Individuals and businesses that expect to pay Delaware State income taxes can use the Neighborhood Assistance Program to provide valuable assistance to our programs, while reducing their tax liability.
In exchange for a qualified contribution, the donor receives state tax credits equal to 50% of their contribution. For example, a contribution of $5,000 qualifies for $2,500 in tax credits.
Minimum eligible donation for a Business is $10,000 and an Individual is $2,500. Delaware State Housing Authority’s staff members review applications and award the credits on a first-come, first-served basis. Each year a maximum of $500,000 in tax credits is available.
Apply now with your donation! Credits are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
