Join SaskCulture's Board of Directors and AGM Announcement
SaskCulture will hold its Annual General Meeting on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 3:00pm on the Zoom virtual webinar platform. All members are welcome to attend and participate in the AGM, but only voting members are eligible to vote. Registration to attend is required by June 14, 2022; click here to register, or contact Nichole at the SaskCulture office at 306-780-9259.

SaskCulture's Annual Report for the year ending March 31, 2022 and detailed audited financial statements will be posted for members to review three weeks in advance of the AGM on SaskCulture's website.

SaskCulture will have four director positions and the Chair position for election at this year's AGM. Nominations are being accepted for the following positions:
  • Chair
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the arts
  • First Nations Ancestry and a demonstrated knowledge of First Nations Culture
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiculturalism
  • Membership at large

Each position is for a two-year term on the board. Nominations packages and more information about board responsibilities can be found on the SaskCulture website. Nomination deadline is May 15, 2022. Any applications received after this date will be treated as nominations from the floor of the AGM.  
Phishing Email Scam Alert
SaskCulture was alerted about an email phishing scheme that is sending emails asking recipients to purchase SaskCulture's Approved List database for $400-500 USD. This is not a legitimate product and these emails should be considered a scam and identified as SPAM. Please let others know if they receive these emails to disregard and block this sender. And be sure to review some of the leading practices you, and your organizations, can take to help stay safe online.

SaskCulture sends out emails confirming funding amounts, but does not sell products to funding recipients. If you have any questions about any email you receive from SaskCulture, please contact our office at 306-780-9284 or info@saskculture.ca.

Culture Days is Coming
It's never too early to start planning for Culture Days, taking place September 23 - October 16, 2022. Check out this handy Planning Your Event resource for helpful tips such as finding an appropriate venue and how to promote your events to draw audiences.

Creative Saskatchewan Film Grant Applications Open
Creative Saskatchewan is accepting applications for the Feature Film & Television Production Grant, as of May 2, following an increase to funding for this program through the provincial budget. The deadline is open-ended, and applicants are encouraged to review eligibility information to see what funding is available for their production.
Nonprofit Voluntary Sector Studies Network Survey Open
The NVSSN at Luther College is exploring the creation of a micro-credential program for the non-profit and voluntary sector and is looking for feedback on the creation this program and what educational needs exist within the sector.
Saskatchewan Connections in Recent Order of Canada Investees
Valerie Creighton, President and CEO of the Canada Media Fund, and Professor Marie Ann Battiste were among the most recent recipients named to the Order of Canada for 2022. Creighton, who has roots in Saskatchewan's and Canada's arts and entertainment industry, was recognized for her trailblazing work in the industry to enrich television, film and digital media production in Canada for over 35 years. Battiste, a treaty member of Mi'kmaq Nation and professor at the University of Saskatchewan, was recognized for her research and scholarship on Indigenous knowledge and languages.
CHRC Internships Available for 2022 - 2023
The Cultural Human Resources Council, with funding through the Student Work Placement Program, is offering a round of funding for Canada's cultural sector to hire post-secondary students with wage subsidies. 50% of the intern's full wage to a maximum of $5,000, or 70% up to a maximum of $7,000 if the student is part of a priority group, is available for organizations as of April 1, 2022.
