Share Your Farewell Wishes with Dr. Joe Betancourt

As many of you already know, Friday, December 30th, was Dr. Joe Betancourt's last day as the Senior Vice President for Equity & Community Health at Massachusetts General Hospital. Joe took over the reins of the Commonwealth Fund as its eighth president on January 17, 2023. In his new role, Joe will be among the first Latino heads of a national health care foundation.

We wish him all the best and would like to dedicate this edition of the CDI eNews to Joe. I know that he has touched many of our lives—both personally and professionally—during his tenure, and I encourage everyone in the CDI community to share a memory, reflection, story or comment via this Apollo link, which we will share with Joe.

Below is a reflection of my time and partnership with Joe:

Dear Joe,

Thank you for having big dreams and a big heart. We accomplished so much together in such a short period of time and helped make MGH – and this world – a better place by advancing equity and diversity, and helping create a more welcoming, inclusive and respectful environment for so many MGHers and the communities we serve.

I will forever be grateful to have been a part of your leadership team. Your legacy will endure here for years to come. May you fill more hearts and minds with great ideas and actions as the leader of the Commonwealth Fund in this next chapter of your life. We will miss you dearly!

Warmly,

Elena
