Here's what's up for Sunday, May 5

What’s Next ? A conversation About Northway’s Future!

This will be an enjoyable and important event for Northway as we journey together to find our Way Forward. The event will start at 10:00 am with Worship at the regular time (10:30 am) followed by lunch and activities aimed at understanding what you value most about Northway; your aspirations for Northway in the future, and assess our willingness to change. The Northway Task Force is planning a number of innovative and creative ways to identify our congregation’s preferences, so please plan on attending this important All Church Event.

Your children will participate also. Sunday School teachers will bring the children to you in F-102 following class at 10:10 am. They will participate in the pre-worship activity with you.

Kids will have the opportunity to engage in age appropriate ways and parents will not be responsible for leading the kids in the discussions.

Following the Children's Moment during the 10:30 am worship service, children ages 3—Grade 5 will be escorted to F-103 for their own kid-friendly worship experience, Worship Rocks!

After the worship service is over, your children will be waiting for you in the hallway outside of the Sanctuary.

This week's Bible Story

God’s Word Is a Light

Psalm 119:105

Practice hearing from God.

Memory Verse

“Training the body has some value. But being godly has value in every way. It promises help for the life you are now living and the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:8, NIrV

Beyond Sunday

Ask and Tell

As your kid starts their day, tell them an example of how you’ve seen them show commitment.

At a meal this week, have everyone at the table answer this question: “What are some ways we can practice hearing from God?”

Pray

“God, help us to listen to Your voice. May we hear You when we read Your Word, see the beauty of Your creation, or hear Your truth from others.”

Join us on a 28 Day Prayer Journey

The Task Force is working hard to pray and learn and research all the paths available for NCC as we journey together into whatever God is up to next. You might have noticed announcements about the upcoming May 5 What’s Next? lunch event, and we want you to join us as we pray. However, we all know that church goes on before and after meetings, so we want to keep praying together all the way to Pentecost.

Our prayers are going to be short: short enough to be a single text message! To join in, sign up to receive a single text message daily through Pentecost. You will also be able to read the prayer on the church’s social media.

All you have to do is CLICK HERE to sign up for the text messages, or contact Pastor Chesna with any questions.

We Need You!

We are still in need of a few good Sunday School teachers for our children and youth. No experience is required. You are enough! We usually work on a month on and month off rotation, but if you are available on different timing, we will work with you.

We also need volunteers for VBS! There are so many ways you can serve before and during this week. We need set-up helpers the week before, small group leaders, game leaders, craft and marketplace helpers...and more. If you are available, we will find the right job for you! If you are interested in helping with any of these volunteer opportunities, please contact Pastor Chesna or Dawn Ziesmer.

Northway youth (grades 6-12) and sponsors will travel to Albuquerque, NM for our Be The Neighbor Mission Experience, which is July 7-13. Please fill out the interest/registration form here. Cost to participate is $400/person. We will do fundraising where youth can earn credits toward their participation in the fundraising. The week will include both service and educational experiences. Group trip leaders include Chesna Riley and Rachel Shawler. Contact the church office with any questions.

If you have questions about an event, or you have a prayer request you'd like to share, or you'd like to volunteer to help, please contact Northway's Minister to Children, Youth, and Families - Rev. Chesna Riley
