Dear Residents -
On Super Bowl Sunday, I joined the Stony Point Seals for their 25th Anniversary Super Plunge into the Hudson River. While I did not plunge, I was happy to attend in support of two sick children from the North Rockland community. Bravo to the organizers for doing such a great job, including having music, a helicopter, bagpipers, and hundreds of motorcyclists from the Nam Knights Hudson Valley Chapter (a motorcycle club of veterans and law enforcement personnel dedicated to raising money for worthy causes).
But if you missed it, not to worry as you have another chance. On March 3, 2024, the Penguin Plunge, run by Barbara Noyes and Mike Lynch, will be held at Nyack Memorial Park to help raise funds for four local families with sick children. If you cannot make it, please consider contributing whatever you can for this very worthy cause. Please click here.
This week, I attended the Rockland County Civil and Human Rights Hall of Fame Reception for new inductees, with guest speaker Martin Luther King III. The Rockland County Civil and Human Rights Hall of Fame was designed to raise awareness about human rights issues and to foster an environment that promotes discussion and education about Rockland’s civil rights history and ongoing challenges.
Starting tomorrow, and running every weekend through March 10, 2024, the Pearl River United Methodist Church will host their 33rd Annual Train Show. It is the perfect event to attend on one of those cold winter days. To check out the hours of operation, please click here.
The March 1, 2024 deadline is fast approaching to apply for the senior citizen exemption. To see if you qualify, please read the information below or contact the Assessor’s Office at (845) 359-5100 x 2224 or email.
As a reminder, Town Hall will be closed on Monday, February 19, 2024 in observance of Presidents Day.
Enjoy your weekend and try to stay warm!
Regards –
