New! Family Self-Sufficiency Demonstration Development Grants
The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) is accepting proposals from entities looking to strengthen and evaluate coordinated, client-centered approaches to improving family self-sufficiency. Proposals should support planning for and execution of evaluation-related activities by eligible entities that serve low-income families with children.

New! U.S. Department of Education Innovation and Research Program Grants
The Education Innovation and Research (EIR) program provides funding to create, develop, implement, replicate or take to scale entrepreneurial, evidence-based, field-initiated innovations to improve student achievement and attainment for high-need students and to rigorously evaluate such innovations. There are three types of grants: early phase, mid-phase and expansion.

Mid-phase grants are supported by moderate evidence. Funding will support implementation and a rigorous evaluation of a program that has been successfully implemented under an early-phase grant or other similar effort.

Expansion grants are supported by strong evidence for at least one population and setting, and grantees are encouraged to implement innovations at the national level. Funding will support implementation and a rigorous evaluation of a program found to produce sizable, significant impacts under a mid-phase grant or other similar effort.

The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) is accepting proposals to lead and support research on the needs of African American populations served by the Administration for Children and Families and promising approaches to promote social and economic well-being among low-income African American populations.

New! Coordinated Evaluations of Child Care and Development Fund Policies and Initiatives: Planning Grants (Phase 1)
The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) is accepting proposals for the Coordinated Evaluations of Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Policies and Initiatives Phase 1 planning grants.
This grant program will support partnerships between CCDF lead agencies and researchers to develop rigorous, policy-relevant evaluations testing child care subsidy policies designed to increase low-income families’ access to high quality child care. Sponsored projects will evaluate policies and practices related to setting and implementing subsidy payment rates and/or family co-payments.

Department of Education Interdisciplinary Preparation in Special Education, Early Intervention, and Related Services for Personnel Serving Children with Disabilities who have High-Intensity Needs
The purposes of this program are to 1) help address state-identified needs for personnel preparation in special education, early intervention, related services and regular education to work with children, including infants, toddlers and youth with disabilities; and 2) ensure those personnel have the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful in serving those children.
Award budget: Up to $250,000

Funding Forecast: National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Early Intervention to Promote Cardiovascular Health of Mothers and Children
NHLBI has forecasted a funding opportunity announcement for Early Intervention to Promote Cardiovascular Health of Mothers and Children (ENRICH). Applications should propose to test the effectiveness of an implementation-ready intervention designed to determine if a cardiovascular health (CVH) promotion module delivered within the context of a home visiting program can enhance maternal and early childhood CVH, and address CVH disparities in mothers and children (0-5 years).
The study population includes those who are of low socioeconomic status, or live in low-resource or underserved rural or urban communities, or in diverse geographic regions of the U.S. with a high burden of cardiovascular disease risk factors.

Head Start University Partnerships: Building the Evidence Base for ECE Workforce Well-Being
This funding opportunity aims to support projects that will contribute to the knowledge base regarding the individual, program and community factors that promote the well-being of Head Start and/or Early Head Start education staff (i.e., teachers and assistant teachers).
Projects must be led by researchers working in partnership with one or more Head Start programs. Together, they will identify and evaluate promising approaches to improving education staff well-being that are supported by existing research and evidence-based theory of change models.

National Science Foundation Development Sciences Program
The Developmental Sciences Program supports basic research that increases our understanding of cognitive, linguistic, social, cultural and biological processes related to human development across the lifespan.
Research supported by this program will add to our knowledge of the underlying developmental processes that support social, cognitive and behavioral functioning, thereby illuminating ways for individuals to live productive lives as members of society.
Expected award budget: $100,000 - $200,000
