April 2024

It is always a privilege to remember and celebrate the selfless death and incredible resurrection of Jesus with believers and seekers of our community. It reminds me of the whole purpose of why God led me to this very special place more than 25 years ago and it warms my heart to see how He has worked through this ministry to make such an impact and difference for so many children and families. We had a particularly fun time at our Saturday Awana club, where we share Jesus with 1000 plus children every week, as we had a very special team of 9 people join in the celebration. The celebration included a big meal for 1,108 children as well as HUM staff, Awana teachers and helpers. The team purchased gifts of 50 goats and 70 chickens for some of the children and made a fun game to distribute them.

Because of a generous supporter who has given for

special Easter food distributions to the community for several years, we spent some time doing this as well. Many families grow things like casava, corn, root vegetables and a few other veggies in their gardens, and some have a few chickens or goats. This distribution allows us to provide them with some staples like rice, beans, flour, oil, salt and more as well as soap and other hygiene items. It is a blessing to all, especially when the rains do not cooperate.

25 Years

Can you believe that we’ve been working in Uganda for 25 years? We give God all the glory and we hope that you will join us in celebration this fall. Our Denver area celebration will be on October 5th for all who would like to join us. Please save the date to celebrate! We hope to be able to announce these dates and locations in our next newsletter.

Join us in Prayer

 * Please join us in praising God for our recent sponsorship graduates and continue to keep them in your prayers as they begin their new lives as independent adults. Some are still seeking employment. Pray for them all to stay strong in their faith and for those who will be leaving the community to find good Bible preaching churches.

*   Praise God for new believers who accepted Jesus during our Easter services and activities and pray for them to grow in their faith and for us and other strong believers to faithfully love and disciple them.

 *  Please continue to pray for James as he grieves his loss of Elizabeth and continues on as a single dad. Pray for him as he seeks God’s direction for his life.

 *  Please pray for Katherine as she seeks treatment in Uganda for some very painful Baker cysts that have developed on some old knee injuries. Proper imaging equipment and skilled professionals to use it can be a challenge to locate.

*   Please pray for smooth and successful US visa approvals for the Ugandans we would like to bring to share their testimonies with you all this fall.

*   Please pray for strength for our hard-working teachers as their continuing education classes really limit the breaks that they normally get from teaching.

Thank you to all of you who continue to give faithfully for us to serve and minister to these precious children and their families. Some needs for which we are currently seeking funds are:

*School shoes $40 each: We purchase school shoes throughout the year as growing feet require. Sponsorship giving covers a good bit of this need, but some children require shoes more than once a year and shoes are often more expensive for some of the bigger youth. A gift to the shoe fund will help meet these needs.

*We continue to seek funds for our Genesis School in order to increase the nutritional quality of our meals by including items such as eggs and meat. Give to “Donate a Plate” on our online giving form or send a note with your check. Thank you to those who have already generously given for this need.

Some of the now young adults that grew up in the children’s home came to visit for Easter and we were many! We had around 40

people for our Easter dinner and prayer time. We had a wonderful time and it was a highlight to have our friends on the team join us and share the love of Christ and in our home and with all they met.

Grace and Peace to all of you. It is our privilege to have your partnership in ministry!  Katherine

*Thanks to many of you, our Genesis teachers are participating in continuing education for themselves as the country’s requirements have gone up. This is an ongoing expense as we get all of our teachers through the courses in the next couple of years. Thanks to all who gave generously for our teachers last year and we ask all to consider a gift this year toward the $400 per year that is now required.
