2022 PSA Annual Meeting
July 11-14, 2022
Symposium Spotlight
Enhancing their quality of life:
Environmental enrichment for poultry
Chair: Leonie Jacobs, Virginia Tech University

Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM CDT
This symposium is focused on the benefits and challenges of providing poultry with a complex environment and the impact on welfare in terms of health, behavior, and emotional states. Consensus is growing that ensuring good animal welfare does not just entail avoidance of suffering, but also the inclusion of positive experiences. Enrichments and complex environments can be the key to ensuring those experiences. We will discuss the established benefits of those enrichments on poultry welfare and health, and we will discuss challenges with implementing enrichments. This symposium provides valuable insights from both the scientific and industry perspective.
This year's Annual Meeting is an in-person meeting only.
There will be no virtual attendance option.
