November is National Hospice & Palliative Care Month
The month of November is a time to recognize the extraordinary care that East End Hospice offers to patients and their families who are faced with life's final stage. EEH unites with over 3,000 hospice programs across the nation to promote community awareness about the choices in end-of-life care.

East End Hospice improves lives across Eastern Long Island through expert care, comfort, and compassion for terminally ill patients and their families. Our nurses, aides, social workers, volunteers, and staff care for more than 700 patients; support caregivers, family, and friends, during and after the end-of-life journey; and provide grief and bereavement services to more than 250 community members each year, covering 250 square miles across the East End.

2021 was a banner year of milestones at EEH, including:
  • 30 years as the region's leading hospice provider
  • 25 years of Camp Good Grief
  • 25 years of brisk sales and funds raised at the EEH Thrift Shop
  • 5 years operating the Kanas Center for Hospice Care, the East End's only dedicated hospice facility
  • Newly-renamed Zinberg Family Bereavement Center

Our strong foundation and history of providing hospice services on the East End propels us forward as we care for the increasing number of people in our region living with a terminal illness and respond to the unprecedented need for grief and bereavement counseling in our community. We've built our reputation on expert, compassionate care that puts patients and their loved ones first. Our commitment to our patients and their families, as well as to those grieving, drives everything we do.

November is also time for thanks and appreciation. We are thankful for the commitment of our Board of Directors and staff, the dedication of our volunteers, and the continued generosity of our community that will drive our activity forward as we meet the expanding need for quality, compassionate end-of-life care on the East End.

East End Hospice is proud to serve this community. Community support is vital to meeting our goals

Please join us in celebrating November as National Hospice Month and help us celebrate by educating yourself and your community about the decisions one deals with when faced with a terminal illness in the family. Learn about choices in end-of-life care before you and your family are faced with making one of life's most challenging decisions.
Students Show Compassion with Care Cards
Last month, the students at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Regional Catholic School in Center Moriches learned about hospice and bereavement care from Jeannie Behrens, LCSW-R, EEH Adult Bereavement Coordinator.

The children later that afternoon created "Care Cards" to be given to our patients at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care.

"This lovely presentation moved the students," stated Kathleen Diesing, OLQA teacher. "I think it planted the seed to consider how they can show small acts of kindness and dignity to all people."

The care cards will be given out this month to our patients and their families. We are grateful to these students for their compassion.
