Hello from Haiti!

Sometimes people make hard choices.

In Haiti, it's a common practice for people to wait way too long to go to see the doctor. Because of poverty and the challenges of life, sometimes people have to decide between getting medical care and getting food to feed their families. Often, it's their own health care that takes the back seat. Even though we are a charity clinic, the thinking is such a way of life, people tend to just deal with being sick until they are very sick.

The clinic is on the move to find sick people.

Knowing there are many sick people who aren't coming to the clinic, the clinic is on the move. There is a new practice to go mobile, taking the clinic beyond its walls. The last Friday of every month, the clinic will be at some remote location, making care easier for people to find. The idea is to find people who are so sick, they can't even make it to the clinic. We have seen that many times, because people just wait too long to get care.

The clinic has gone on the road already in the months of March and April. In March, the mobile clinic was right in the neighborhood where the clinic is located. This increased awareness in the local community so people know what is available to them. In April, the clinic went to Galilee Baptist Church in the city of Cap-Haitien. The church opened its doors so people from the church and their neighborhood could get treatment. Every month, the clinic will move to a new location, hoping to expand its reach to those in the greatest need. People also have a chance to hear the good news of the Gospel at the same time they receive physical care. Lives are being changed in significant ways.

You make it possible!

Things like this are possible because you pray for the mission, and you give. Last month we wrote about a campaign through Amazon's Charity List, which enabled you to purchase supplies and over-the-counter medications for the clinic. You responded in a big way! You gave thousands of dollars worth of supplies and medicine, and that will expand our capacity to help people within the clinic, and outside its doors. We wish we could thank everyone individually, but Amazon doesn't let us know who gave the products we receive. They just show up, and sometimes in amazing quantity! This is just the latest example of how you enable us to serve in Haiti. We are grateful for all you do.

Until next month, please keep us in your prayers as the dedicated clinic staff continues to serve in challenging conditions.
Blessings to all,
