National Lutheran Schools Week

Mark your calendars for National Lutheran Schools Week which will be celebrated Sunday, January 22 - Friday, January 27.


Sunday Jan. 22

Grades Y5-8 students will sing in both church services. 

Students will sing towards the end of the 8:00 a.m. service (offering) and the beginning of the 10:30 a.m. service (before the readings). Students will sit with their parents and come up front to sing.

Please join us for Sunday School and Bible class in-between.


Monday Jan. 23

Decade Day - pick your favorite decade and get all decked out!


Tuesday Jan. 24

Wacky Tacky Day - Dress your craziest - all the patterns at once! Make your hair crazy too!


Wednesday Jan. 25

Safari Day - dress like an animal, wear animal print, or camo/tan/hunting gear (no weapons)

Special Events - Chapel Families Activity - during chapel till around 9:00 a.m. Animals Around the World assembly at 1:30 p.m.


Thursday Jan. 26

Comfy-Cozy Day - Wear your favorite footie-pajamas, slippers, sweatpants, or anything you find comfy! (Appropriate clothing, please)

Special Event - Pancake breakfast with your family from 7:15-8:00 a.m.


Friday Jan. 27

Sports Day - Support your favorite team

Special Event - 7-8 vs. Staff Volleyball game in Gym at 2:00 p.m.

End of Second Quarter

Friday, January 20, is the end of our Second Quarter. We thank God for the learning that has taken place and the social, emotional, spiritual, and academic growth that He has provided. Student report cards will be going home next Friday, January 27.

Early Enrollment Information

Look for information for Early Enrollment to go home with students on Friday, January 27.

Congratulations Chess Champions!

Second Quarter Wildcat Club featuring Chess, Checkers, and Chinese Checkers culminated last Friday with a Chess Tournament. Eleven of the twenty-eight members signed up for the tournament, they included: Isaac M., Cylis, Ethan, David, Kaleb, Elise, Charlie B., Avery, Olivia, Owen, Noah, and Isaac H. The Championship Game took place on Friday, January 13, between Isaac M. and Noah. The result was a Stalemate. Both young men have been declared the Champion, congratulations! Principal Matyas would like to thank Pastor Matyas and Mr. Burnison for helping with the Chess portion of the Club’s activities. Third Quarter Wildcat Club will be Jigsaw Puzzles. Look for more information and a permission slip in the upcoming weeks.

PTO News

The St. Paul PTO would like to thank everyone that attended the Chipotle fundraiser! We were able to raise $495.50 for the St. Paul PTO. We appreciate the support! 


Join us at the next PTO meeting on March 14.

Vision Screening

The Bay County Health Department will be here on January 31 to conduct eye exams for grades 1, 3, 5 & 7. If you would like to opt your child out from the eye exam we will need a note, either written or emailed to office@stpaulbaycity.org

Junior High Dance/Game Night at VLHS

Permission slips went home with 6th-8th grade students inviting them to a Junior High Dance and Game Night at Valley Lutheran High School. The event will be held on Saturday, February 4, from 7:00-9:00 pm. The cost is $5. The theme is USA, students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. Signed permission slips and money should be brought to Valley the evening of the event.

Family Valentine's Dance

Wednesday, February 15, 2023

5:30-7:30 p.m.

Children Preschool-5th grade and their families are invited to join us for an evening of pizza, pop, dessert, and dancing. You will need to purchase your ticket for the dance. Tickets are available in the office for $10 per family. Please purchase your ticket by Monday, January 30, so that we can have enough food and drinks for everyone! We still need a few more donations: click here to for the sign-up sheet. If anyone would like to help decorate or set up for the event, please let Mrs. Lara know!

Inclement Weather School Closing


With cold weather coming, we inevitably know that there may be a Snow Day or two in our future. How will you know if school is closed for a Snow Day? Check these three places:

  1. St. Paul Lutheran School will be closed when Bay City Public School closes, watch for it on WNEM's School Closings. 
  2. The office will also send out a FastDirect email.
  3. School Closings will be posted on our St. Paul Lutheran School Facebook Page.

St. Paul Basketball Parent Sign Up

Click here to sign up to help out at the St. Paul home basketball games.


Parents need to sign up for a minimum of two different times throughout the season. That can be through selling tickets, concessions or operating the scoreboard.


If you are opening please arrive early to help set up and if you are closing please plan to assist in cleaning up at the end.


The Wednesday games will only need one set of volunteers and the Friday games will need two sets of volunteers.
