We invite community members to tell us how the Library has made a difference in their lives and we welcome stories in words, pictures, and videos, all of which can be submitted online at
liveoakpl.org.librarystory. Participants are also encouraged to connect on social media using the tags @liveoakpl and #mylibrarystory.
National Library Week is supported by the
American Library Association and takes place April 4-10, 2021. This year's theme, "Welcome to Your Library," recognizes that libraries extend beyond the walls of our buildings and into the community.
"Libraries are welcoming places for everyone. The community and our customers are at the center of everything we do. When people share their personal stories, experiences, and memories, it helps us tell the larger story of how libraries strengthen the community," said David Singleton, Library Executive Director.
He continued, "Libraries are here for you, whether you visit us in person or online. Libraries are a lifeline, especially during difficult times. By listening to the needs of the community, we helped customers continue to read, learn, and grow throughout the challenges of the past year. Now as we look to the future, we want to hear how you use the library and what your library means to you."
Libraries offer free access to information and resources to help individuals achieve their personal goals and communities reach their collective goals. More than just a place for books, libraries provide programs and services to enrich lives, support lifelong learning, and improve communities.
The
Share Your Library Story project kicks off on April 5, 2021 and will be an ongoing, year-round initiative at Live Oak Public Libraries. We appreciate the community sharing their support for public libraries.
