Indian Market Begins

The 100th SWAIA Indian Market takes place this weekend.

Whether you're attending or simply navigating the downtown area, take note of the road closures in effect through Sunday 8/21 when you're planning your route.

(Regular vehicle access resumes on Monday, 8/22.)

SFFD to the Rescue "Games"

Santa Fe Fire Department staff have been participating in special trainings called the "Rescue Games" to help hone their skills in various rescue scenarios, including: high angle/low angle rescue, technical rope skills and structural collapse. Participants in the class get a chance to experience what the Rescue Technician role entails within SFFD, and the training helps them all be better prepared in the event of an emergency – which benefits our whole community.

Maintaining Many, Many Medians

The medians crew in the Parks and Open Space Division is responsible for 580+ medians in the city, which equals 118 miles of maintenance in total! The recent rains have made all our plants very happy, and the weeds are no exception – this team has been hard at work clearing medians and rights-of-ways to keep up with the growth, and we're very grateful for their efforts. Give them a thumbs-up if you see them around town, and check out the Median Maintenance Tracker to find out where they're headed next.

New Recreation Division Director

Please join us in welcoming our new Recreation Division Director, Brian Stinett: Brian is from Pecos, NM, and graduated from UNM with a BS in Education/Physical Education. He has over 20 years of experience in recreation, and was the Director of the Albuquerque Parochial and Independent Athletic League (APIAL) prior to joining the City. He has worked in multiple areas in private, municipal and academic recreational facilities over the course of his career, and we're excited to have his expertise on Team Santa Fe!

Celebrate Our Native Bees

Keep Santa Fe Beautiful (KSFB), the Environmental Services Division, and the Parks and Open Space Division, invite community members to attend a ribbon cutting and dedication for KSFB’s new pollinator garden and bee sculpture in Calle Alvarado Park at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 26. The bee sculpture is by a local Santa Fe artist, and the beautiful garden also supports the commitments required by the City’s designation as a Bee City USA®.

There's a lot going on in the City Different!
