Hymn of Praise – Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee (UMH #89)
Joyful, joyful, we adore thee,
 God of glory, Lord of love;
hearts unfold like flowers before thee,
 opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
 Drive the dark of doubt away.
Giver of immortal gladness,
 fill us with the light of day!

All thy works with joy surround thee,
 earth and heaven reflect thy rays,
stars and angels sing around thee,
 center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea,
chanting bird and flowing fountain,
 call us to rejoice in thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving,
 ever blessing, ever blest,
well-spring of the joy of living,
 ocean depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our brother,
 all who live in love are thine;
teach us how to love each other,
lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the mighty chorus
 which the morning stars began;
love divine is reigning o’er us,
 binding all within its span.
Ever singing, march we on-ward,
 victors in the midst of strife;
joyful music leads us sun-ward,
 in the triumph song of life.

Message in Music – Come Be Baptized

Baptism – Juliette Martens
Note: all will sing v1,3,7 of “I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry” as Juliette is shared with the congregation.
I was there to hear your borning cry,
 I’ll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized,
 to see your life unfold.

I was there to hear your borning cry,
 I’ll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized,
 to see your life unfold.

Prayer of Intercession

Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, we give you thanks and praise for the work of your Spirit in bringing forth your reign among us. Yet in the midst of your goodness at work, we often overlook the fruit of your presence and power. Forgive us, Lord, for failing to notice the growth and spread of your good ways that extend hope and redemption to all your children. Strengthen us to be a people that embodies your offer of shelter, love, and peace in a fragmented world, all as a witness to Christ Jesus, our risen Lord. Amen.

Hymn – Hymn of Promise (UMH #707)
In the bulb there is a flower;
 in the seed, an apple tree;
in cocoons, a hidden promise:
 butterflies will soon be free!
In the cold and snow of winter
 there’s a spring that waits to be,
unrevealed until its season,
 something God alone can see.

There’s a song in every silence,
 seeking word and melody;
there’s a dawn in every darkness,
 bringing hope to you and me.
From the past will come the future;
 what it holds, a mystery,
unrevealed until its season,
 something God alone can see.

In our end is our beginning;
 in our time, infinity;
in our doubt there is believing;
 in our life, eternity.
In our death, a resurrection;
 at the last, a victory,
unrevealed until its season,
 something God alone can see.

Hymn – Lead on, O King Eternal (UMH #580)
Lead on, O King eternal,
 the day of march has come;
hence-forth in fields of conquest
 thy tents shall be our home.
Through days of preparation
 thy grace has made us strong;
and now, O King eternal,
we lift our battle song.

Lead on, O King eternal,
 till sin’s fierce war shall cease,
And holiness shall whisper
 the sweet amen of peace.
For not with swords loud clashing,
 nor roll of stirring drums;
with deeds of love and mercy
 the heavenly kingdom comes.

Lead on, O King eternal,
 we follow, not with fears,
for gladness breaks like morning
 wher-e’er thy face appears.
Thy cross is lifted o’er us,
 we journey in its light;
the crown awaits the conquest;
 lead on, O God of might.

Benediction
Congregational Response:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
look full in his wonderful face
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace
