Largo's Community Conversation
A large group of service organization and non-profit leaders met at the Largo Public Library last week to review the city’s recent resident and business survey findings. That led to discussion on Largo’s use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds it will be receiving. According to the survey, the biggest challenges facing businesses are a decline in sales and shortage of skilled employees. Affordable/workforce housing was a major topic of the community conversation. Chamber President Tom Morrissette represented business interests at this important gathering.

PSTA Cuts Transit Fares in Half to Help with Soaring Gas Prices
*******As gas prices skyrocket, the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) is offering half-price fares from March 21st through May 31st, 2022.
*******“Public transportation is the obvious and number one alternative to being held hostage by high gas prices,” said Brad Miller, Chief Executive Officer of PSTA. “Providing current riders additional savings and inviting new riders the option to dump the pump offers local families a significant way to improve their bottom line.”
*******While PSTA is already a cost-effective transportation option, it will further discount fares paid through the Flamingo Fares card or app. During the promotion, fares will change to:
*******Regular Fares: Single Rides $1.10, Daily cap $2.50, monthly cap $35
*******Reduced Fares: $0.55, Daily cap $1.25, monthly cap $17.50
Additionally, for new Flamingo Card Users, the $3 card fee will be waived if the user loads more than $20 onto their new card. New app accounts will continue to be free.
