Update to COVID-19 Reporting Requirements

In accordance with a recent Ohio Department of Health update to statewide COVID-19 reporting practices, school districts also are no longer required to collect reports of COVID-19 cases, provide community case notifications or report cases to local health departments unless a COVID-19 case is detected through a school-administered test. As a result of this change, families no longer need to report positive cases of COVID-19 to the District.

Ohio’s Mask to Stay, Test to Play remains in effect, and per current guidance, any student or staff member who returns to school following a COVID-19 diagnosis and five-day isolation period is required to wear a mask for five days in lieu of a 10-day quarantine. Unvaccinated students and staff who have been exposed as a close contact of an individual with COVID-19 are also required to wear a mask for 10 days under the State of Ohio’s Mask-to-Stay policy to be eligible to continue to attend school.

The District continues to encourage staff and families to stay up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters. And as always, please continue to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms daily, and do not report to school if you/the student has any of the following symptoms: headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, fever or chills, new uncontrolled cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, new loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, especially with fever.

Equity Unscripted Podcast: Episode 12

"What is it Like to be a Woman in School Leadership?"

In honor of Women's History Month, this episode celebrates two of our female principals, Tiffany Joseph from Woodbury Elementary and Roneisha Campbell from Mercer Elementary, by discussing their journey to leadership, the impact they feel they can have on students through their roles, the challenges they face and how they overcome them and how being a Black administrator impacts their experiences.

Episodes will release every other week on Sundays. Be on the lookout for Episode 13, which kicks off a special three-part series highlighting the Innovative Center for Personalized Learning, releasing on March 27!

Staying Connected

We want you to stay connected. In order to receive PTO emails and access to the directory, faculty/staff and families are asked to create an account on Membership Toolkit. There are no fees to join the PTO. A Membership Toolkit account will give you access to the district family directory. Once you are registered, you will have the opportunity to decide what, if any, of your family information is included in the directory. Visit www.ShakerPTO.org to register.

Meanwhile, mark your calendars for the next PTO Council meeting scheduled for May 16, 2022. Have a wonderful week!

Thank you for Supporting Our Students!

Thank you to all who supported the 30th annual A Night for the Red & White! Whether you attended the event, donated, purchased raffle tickets, or bid on silent auction items, your contributions will directly impact wellness and success for all Shaker students. Watch our mission video to learn how funds raised at this event will allow us to expand social/emotional learning programs, increase mental health resources, and bolster our academic and mentoring support for all students in grades PreK through 12. We also enjoyed highlighting the stories of many families with multiple generations of Shaker students in this special tribute video. We are grateful to our community of supporters, volunteers and corporate sponsors for contributing to the success of this milestone event!
