Spring Cleaning is Here!
The average senior does household chores for an average of over two and a half hours a day! A lot of that time is spent cleaning, but is mostly spot cleaning. When the spring rolls around, it brings a fantastic opportunity for us to deep clean our houses to prevent extreme dust build up and feel really accomplished. Take a look below for some tips and tricks for spring cleaning!
Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks
  • Take Your Time! - It would be great to finish all the cleaning in the matter of a few hours, but it's not realistic, especially with spring cleaning. Pick a few spots to focus on daily based on what you're able to get to. This will make the task of spring cleaning less overwhelming and more motivating as you'll begin to see the results from your hard work!

  • Get Some Help! - Spring cleaning entails a lot of heavy lifting and moving, which can be tough to do on your own. Don't hurt yourself trying to move a couch when your son is coming to visit in a few days and can lend a helping hand. We all know the quote "Two heads are better than one", that can also apply to spring cleaning as "Four hands are better than two". Cleaning isn't always easy, so getting some help can be extremely beneficial!

  • Clutter Removal - Over the years, you've ended up accumulating a lot of things. These things take up a lot of space and can start creating an unsafe living situation. During your spring cleaning, de-clutter by ridding yourself of unused items or items you don't want anymore. This can help ease stress and relieve insomnia, so it is an extremely beneficial spring cleaning task.

  • Make a List - And check it twice! You're not looking for the good boys and girls, but rather for all the good spots you're going to clean! Making a list will help you feel accomplished as you cross items off and will help you remember to get to tasks you might otherwise forget. Some good items to add to that list are: cleaning your shades, testing fire detectors and getting rid of any expired items (medicines and food).
