NOTE FROM COBB COLLABORATIVE COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR, KELLY MELLEN
On Thursday, January 19, you received this special edition newsletter at the same time as our regular bi-weekly Collaborative Connection newsletter. Our goal with the newsletter is to keep our valued Collaborative audience informed, but never overwhelmed. I apologize that an oversight in scheduling inadvertently inundated your inboxes last week.

Our regular bi-weekly edition of the Collaborative Connection will resume next Thursday, as scheduled. Be on the lookout or our Q2 resource newsletter in April. Additionally, you can find past editions of our newsletter on our website along with distribution dates and submission deadlines.

THANK YOU for your readership and support of the Collaborative!

Best,
Dear Collaborative Network:

This issue of the Collaborative Connection looks quite similar to our bi-weekly editions, but this one has a different focus. Our quarterly resource newsletters are intentionally focused on providing resources to help you further your mission. Development, operations, human resources, and more are pieces needed to help your organization thrive. So, please take the time to explore the services and programs contained in this issue. If you have any additional resources that we should know about, please let us know!

Warmly,
Irene

Incredibly, the human brain doubles in size in the first year. It keeps growing to about 80% of adult size by age 3 and 90% – nearly full grown – by age 5. That’s why the earliest years are critical to developing strong readers and engaged students.

The Basics Cobb County is our Birth-5 programming that aims to provide fun, simple, and powerful strategies to help every child reach their full potential. The Basics Vision is a Cobb County where infants, toddlers, and preschoolers of all racial/ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds are on track to achieve their full potential--having benefited from early experiences that foster healthy brain development, learning, joy, and resilience. Click here for more information about The Basics Cobb County.

Civic engagement is a critical component in developing thriving communities, and it doesn't stop when the election is over. Cobb Collaborative is excited to share that we are taking on Youth Service America's (YSA) 50by250 opportunity! YSA’s work is focused on increasing youth participation rates in volunteering and service, voting and civic engagement, and joining and leadership to 50% by America 250 on July 4, 2026, on the way to 100% a decade later so that no one is left out of participating in our democracy. So what does that mean? We are looking for partners to join our efforts in providing youth with greater access and opportunities for civic participation. Together, we will build collective impact strategies, eliminate barriers to participation, and establish equitable possibilities for students to impact their community.
