Kilns to be unloaded
We unloaded four kilns of work
on Saturday, March 27!
Ready, glaze, fire!

Here are the tentative dates for loading wares for our April gas kiln firings:

Sunday, April 4
Wednesday, April 14

As usual, we will load and fire on these dates in April when we have accumulated enough pieces to fill the kiln. Be sure to check with the studio for April gas kiln firing updates.
Clearing the decks

Our bisque shelves and our glaze shelves are crowded and need to be cleared of work fired in March by Friday, April 30. Regrettably, any unclaimed bisque ware and glazed pieces remaining after that date must be discarded to make room for new work. (And you know we hate doing that!)
Call for instructors

We are looking for professional ceramicists who are also experienced instructors to teach in our new studio. To apply, send your resume and six images of your work to Kay.

For more information, call the studio at 734-662-4914 and ask for Kay
Studio interns needed

Potter's quick tip
Q. Metal, wood, rubber--there are so many different kinds of pottery ribs! Which one should I use for which task, and how should I use it?

A. Potter and teacher Ann Ruel of Little Street Pottery discusses various type of ribs and demonstrates how to use them. And she indulges in some humor along the way, if you don't mind a little ribbing.

You can see some examples of Ruel's nature-inspired pottery here.

Resources for potters
Get a handle on it
Ever wish you could use those MKM hand texture rollers on your wheel-thrown pottery? Potter Hsin-Chuen Lin has come up with a clever way to turn a wire clothes hanger into a homemade roller handle. He shows how to make the handle, then how to use the roller to decorate wheel-thrown pottery.

Gas kiln for sale
Gas kiln for sale
20 cubic-foot outdoor gas kiln for sale. 28 x 28 x 48 loading capacity. Non-electric kiln with Venturi burners. Built by Tom Phardel. It fires beautifully, producing great shino results with carbon trapping and copper reds. We are moving and can't take it with us.

The kiln is held together with a steel frame and must be dismantled and rebuilt in its new location. You will need to supply a cement slab for the kiln, an overhang for weather protection, and a chimney. Some of the required gas piping is included with the kiln This is a superb kiln for a do-it-yourselfer.
The kiln cost $20,000 to build. We are asking $2,500.00. It will be available to move by May 15. Possibly sooner. For more information, call the studio at 734-662-4914 and ask for Kay.
