Members Only: Survey Says!

Thanks to everyone who took our GCSB Heritage Club survey from our February newsletter. We received valuable feedback on our 2021 Appreciation Dinner and the overall GCSB Heritage Club program. A few highlights from the survey include:

   •   The Lake Panorama National Conference Center staff again received high marks for the food, service, and atmosphere, You also enjoyed Jesse & The Medicine Men and the history presentation by Barry Monaghan.

   •   We asked about other types of entertainment that you enjoy. This is a group that likes to have fun and laugh as the top answers included a comedian, dueling pianos, a speaker, and a magician.

   •   The feedback on our travel collaboration with the Connect Club of Commercial Savings Bank in Carroll was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone is excited to be able to travel again!

   •   We are considering ideas to make day trips an option. When we asked about locations you would like to visit, the variety of answers landed in every corner of the state of Iowa! But the top five responses included: the Amana Colonies, the National Mississippi River Museum in Dubuque, the Grotto of Redemption in West Bend, the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, and the Decorah/Dunbar Springs area.

We appreciate your feedback and will utilize it as we continue to plan events and programming for the GCSB Heritage Club!

Have you considered refinancing?

Loan rates for mortgages are still low despite the rise in prices for other items like groceries and gas. If you have a mortgage on your home or other property, it might be worth your time to talk to a relationship manager at Guthrie County State Bank. We can take a look at your current loan to see if it would be beneficial to refinance it. Or you might consider establishing a home equity line of credit to pay for purchases like furniture, recreational equipment, or a dream vacation instead of utilizing your credit card or your savings. There are lots of reasons why a line of credit can make sense as a financial tool. Give us a call, send us an email, or stop by our locations to learn more.

Celebrate May Day!

Spring is in the air, and so is our community spirit! Guthrie County State Bank will again encourage acts of kindness through our Celebrate May Day promotion. Beginning May 1 through May 27, we invite GCSB customers to help a member of our community for the chance to win one of 10 – $500 checks from GCSB to be donated to a local small business or nonprofit. That’s a total of $5,000 for local nonprofits and small businesses!

HOW TO ENTER GCSB'S CELEBRATE MAY DAY PROMOTION

It’s easy to enter. Between May 1 – 27, snap a picture of yourself, your family, or your friends performing a good deed for someone else. Submit the photo on Guthrie County State Bank’s Facebook page or on your public Instagram profile with the hashtag #GCSBMayDay and let us know the small business or nonprofit to which you would give the $500 if you were to win. You can also email your photo and description to gcsb@gcsbank.com

We hope you’ll join in to help us give away $5,000 to our community. Contact any GCSB team member for more details and watch our website,Facebook, and Instagram for updates.

FRAUD TIPS

Recently, we’ve been hearing about a scam that convinces people they have won the Publishers Clearing House (PCH) Sweepstakes. There are a variety of ways that the scammers try to convince you but whatever the reason, don’t fall for it. According to PCH, there are three key things to remember:

   1.   PCH will never call you or notify you in advance to tell you that you’ve won.

   2.   PCH doesn’t send friend requests or messages via Facebook.

   3.   They will never ask you to pay anything to claim your PCH prize.

Visit this website and watch this video to learn more. If you ever have questions about scams or you think someone is trying to scam you, contact Guthrie County State Bank or the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Department.
