West Wind District Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet

Dear West Wind Scouters:

Time is running out to register for the District Dinner and to submit award nominations! Pleas, please sign up AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so we can finalize numbers. We’re keeping the costs low ($30 / person) to try to attract as many people as possible so that we can celebrate all our great volunteers.

We also very much need award nominations. Details of how to apply for these are given below. We very much want every unit to name a “Spark Plug” and hopefully to nominate additional awardees.

We are holding the Banquet at the Chelmsford Senior Center this year, 75 Groton Road in North Chelmsford. There will be a catered buffet and soft drinks available. This is a non-uniformed event so please dress up and come ready to celebrate! There is a registration fee of $30 per person for the event. Spark Plug Award: Nominate one person who provides the “spark” to your unit! This is a great way to recognize our outstanding volunteers. Recipients will receive a plaque and recognition at the banquet – make sure you register them along with others from your unit to celebrate their achievement. Training Awards: You can nominate someone for a Training award at https://form.jotform.com/231845281251049 . You will need to include the nomination form – you will find the various types of awards and most of the appropriate forms at https://www.scouting.org/training/training-awards-and-recognition/ . The Unit Leader Award of Merit form is found at https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/512-003_WB.pdf .

Veteran Awards: These recognize Scouters who have reached a milestone of years in Scouting as a registered Scout or Scouter, in multiples of 5 years (5, 10, 15, etc….). You can find the application at https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/membership/pdf/524-701.pdf and submit it at the Training Awards link above.

District Award of Merit: This recognizes individuals who have provided outstanding service at the District level. Honorees are named by a Nominating Committee of prior awardees, this year headed by Jerry Cross, an emeritus District Chair. You can nominate someone for this award using the form at https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/33720.pdf, and submit it via email directly to Jerry at jeromepcross@yahoo.com .
