Hello, Lion Families!

We continue to reach out with information and updates for the Lincoln Park High School Class of 2025! 

Today’s Matriculation Newsletter contains a handful of new items for your review:

1. Step One of the Registration Process: Completing the Virtual Enrollment Form

  • We are excited to begin the registration process for your student’s next year classes!
  • The first step in the registration process is for all families to complete the Virtual Enrollment Form
  • This step must be completed in its entirety before class selection can begin -- please complete this form no later than Monday, June 14
  • To complete this step, all families will need to upload the following documents:
  • Student Birth Certificate
  • Three Forms of Address Verification (such as lease or mortgage documents, utility bills, medical card or property tax statement
  • Families not currently attending a CPS school will also need to upload the following:
  • Student’s most recent grades, NWEA scores or other 8th grade test scored
  • Current IEP or 504, if applicable
  • All families must complete the Virtual Registration Form
  • If you are registering more than one student, please only put one student's name and information on each submission and fill it out as many times as you have students enrolling at LPHS -- one student per form submission
  • After enrollment materials have been reviewed, we will be in contact regarding class selection

2. Freshman Connection Registration Deadline Extended!
The deadline for Freshman Connection registration has been extended to Friday, June 18! 

As a reminder, here are the details for Freshman Connection at LP: 
  • Freshman Connection will be held Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Lunch will be provided each day
  • Select one of the following three weeks to attend Freshman Connection
  • Option 1: Monday, July 12 - Thursday, July 15
  • Option 2: Monday, July 19 - Thursday, July 22
  • Option 3: Monday, July 26 - Thursday, July 29
  • Note: students participating in Summer math classes should select Option 3 (Monday, July 26 - Thursday, July 29).
  • The program is free and it is a great way to get to know LP, your student’s future teachers, and it’s a great opportunity for them to meet other students! Here are some other areas of focus for Freshman Connection: 
  • Learn school expectations and graduation requirements
  • Learn study skills and organizational strategies
  • Practice skills that will help your student be successful in their freshman year
  • Participate in games and activities
  • Learn wellness strategies, including mindfulness practices and yoga

Again, if you have already completed the survey, there is no need to complete the survey a second time; confirmations will be sent later this week (see number 5 below)!

3. Update on June 23 Schedule for Diagnostic/Placement Tests

  • If you signed up your student for one or more diagnostic/placement test on Wednesday, June 23, here is the schedule:
  • 9:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. - Math Diagnostic/Placement
  • 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Language Acquisition Diagnostic/Placement
  • This structure will allow students to sit for two diagnostic/placement exams in one day (combining a Math test with a Language Acquisition test)

4. ROTC Information Sessions

  • Is your student up for a challenge? Join Master Sergeant Villalobos and members of the LPHS Lion Battalion Cadets to learn more about JROTC at Lincoln Park! 
  • Date: Wednesday, June 9
  • Time: 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

5. Freshman Connection Confirmation Emails

  • Confirmation emails for Freshman Connection will be sent later this week (week of June 7)
  • Every effort was made to assign students to their first choice week -- please remember that social distancing requirements are still in place, and we must cap classes at no more than 15 students
  • We know that you are eager to make summer travel plans, and we hope that this information is helpful

6. Adding a Second Parent/Guardian Contact

  • GoCPS allows only one parent/guardian email address, and we have heard from many families that they would like to add another parent/guardian to our email distribution list (to receive these Matriculation Newsletters, for example)
  • If you would like another parent/guardian to receive our communications, please complete this form

8. Future Updates and Looking Ahead

Looking Ahead - Mark Your Calendars!

  • Mark Your Calendar: Thursday, August 19; 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - Quick Start for Class of 2025
  • Quick Start is an in-person event where students and families receive important materials and resources, including
  • Receive Chromebooks/technology
  • Photos taken for school IDs (students will receive their ID on the first day of school)
  • Submit important forms (Income Forms, Medical Forms, etc.)
  • Pay Student Fees
  • Receive Student Schedules
  • Freshman Orientation
