Concerts at the Cove
Held every Thursday night from July 15 - August 26, from 6:00-7:45 PM
| |
Summer Concerts at the Cove continue this Thursday with the band Hullabaloo. Hullabaloo is Steve Denyes and Brendan Kremer, friends since kindergarten. Steve plays guitar, sings and writes goofy songs. Brendan plays drums, sings and smiles. They've performed their own brand of foot-stomping, wing-flapping, free-range, organic kid folk across the United States at large festivals and tiny backyard parties. Over the course of ten years Hullabaloo has won twelve national awards, received rave reviews from People, Parenting, Parents, Cookie and Parent & Child Magazines and landed on three national "Top 10 Best Children's Music" lists. What really matters is that Hullabaloo is a foot-stomping, wing-flapping celebration of song that honors and entertains kids and families.
The public is encouraged to bring low-back beach chairs, blankets and picnics, and to arrive “Car-Free.” Please "ShopSolanaFirst" for munchies and other concert picnic items! No alcohol, tobacco, pets, or personal BBQ’s allowed during concerts. This event is free and open to the public.

| Safe Routes to School Program | |
The City has been working on a “Safe Routes to School Program” to assess transportation needs and challenges for students and parents as they commute to and from schools throughout the City. Some of the goals of the Program are to identify specific enhancements to the City’s existing roadway network for a safer and more comfortable school commute with emphasis on walking and bicycling options for Solana Beach schoolchildren, their families and residents.
Public outreach is a main component of this Program. In addition to updates at City Council meetings, school-based mobility assessments were held at each school last year and information was handed out during Fiesta Del Sol in May 2022. Our public outreach efforts will continue this Thursday at the Concert at the Cove on August 18, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with Hullabaloo performing their highly acclaimed brand of organic kids folk music. The City’s consultant will be set up on site to provide more information on the Safe Routes to School Program and solicit feedback from kids and their parents about walking and bicycling improvements near their schools. Come early to provide your feedback and then stay to enjoy the concert.
There are eight project sites that are currently available for review and comments. Please visit our Safe Routes to School Page to view and submit a comment for the project sites listed below.

Call for Artists: Temporary Public Arts Program
| |
|
The City and its Public Arts Commission are now accepting applications for the City's ongoing Temporary Public Arts Program. The Temporary Public Arts Program is a unique opportunity for artists to showcase their works of art in a high-traffic urban and ocean-view environment attracting Solana Beach residents as well as tourists from around the world.
Artists are invited to submit sculptures of various sizes for consideration for a one-year exhibition. The program aims to select five (5) pieces to be displayed at highly visible, designated temporary public art sites throughout our beautiful coastal community. If selected, the artist will receive a $1,500 stipend for each sculpture. Submission deadline is Wednesday, October 19, at 5:30 PM.
