Connecting our church and community to become change agents for Jesus.
Good morning, COG family!

We are one week out from Thanksgiving. There are so many great verses in the Bible emphasizing God's love, mercy, and grace. Let's not forget to thank Him during this holiday and every day.

"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever."
1 Chronicles 16:34

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
Collosians 3:17

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
James 1:17

"He has saved us and called us to a holy life-not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time"
2 Timothy 1:9

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8

"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved."
Ephesians 2:4-5

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16

Be salt and light,

Pastor Chris

Pray First Resources
As we continue to commit to Pray First, we want to provide resources to help us grow in our prayer walk.

These are November's resources:

The YouVersion Bible app for your phone has great prayer resources. Once you download the app, click "Discover" on the bottom of the app's home screen, and search for prayer. You'll see videos from David Platt, Levi Lusko, and others. There are also devotional plans you can start. Another cool feature of YouVersion is that you can add friends to your app and then do plans together.

Thank you, Tom King, for providing these valuable resources!

Upcoming Events
Men's Ministry - Movie Night
The Men's Ministry is having a pizza and movie night on November 19th at 6:30 pm in the North Building. The movie we will be watching is Overcomer. Invite someone to come with you, and make sure to bring your sons.

Pizza, water, and lemonade will be provided. Please bring a snack to share for the movie.

If you have not signed up yet, please email Dane Campbell so we can plan the pizza order accordingly.
Thanksgiving at the Olin
We will be allowed to serve Thanksgiving meals in person again! Since a number of Olin residents have serious medical conditions, we will take extra safety measures including wearing masks while we are in the Olin facility.

The Olin is a HUD property located close to Denver's Capitol Hill; it assists older and disabled individuals. At Thanksgiving and Easter, many of us cook food, and we take it to the Olin and directly serve meals to the residents.

To pull off this event, plenty of hands are needed, including people to provide food, to serve food, and to help in the kitchen. You can sign up to be a part of Thanksgiving at the Olin in the back of the sanctuary. Please bring your food in disposable containers to help ease cleanup. If you are dropping food off at the church, please have your food on-site between 11:30 and 11:45 am.

If you have questions, you can email Missy.
Church Christmas Decorating
The COG staff will be decorating the North Building on November 27th at 9 am for Christmas. We'd love for you to join us for this festive time decking out Community of Grace for the holidays. If you would like to help out, please sign up at the Get Connected table or email Anita.
Christmas Toy Drive
In an effort to connect our church and community, we will have our second annual Christmas toy drive and giveaway. We are looking for donations of new unwrapped toys, games, and clothes for children ages 5 years thru 16 years old. We still have a lot of toys for those under the age of 5 from last year's event. We are also taking donations of wrapping paper and Christmas bags as well if possible.

We will be collecting gifts until December 5th in drop-off bins located in the North Building foyer.

We will hand out gifts to those in need on December 8th from 5 pm - 8 pm and on December 9th from 8:00 am - 12 pm, and we have flyers printed for you to give to your neighbors. If you are interested in helping, you can sign up at the Get Connected table.

Please email Anita to coordinate dropping off gifts (or bring them with you to Sunday service), to volunteer to help, or if you have other questions.
Ladies Fellowship
Saturday, December 4th at 10:00 AM, Women's Ministry is having a Christmas Brunch hosted by Kathleen Chandler. Please bring an ornament to exchange and a food to share such as fruit, bagels, juice, etc. Come join in the fun of fellowship and exchanging Christmas ornaments along with singing Christmas carols and a devotional. For more information and to sign up, go to the Get Connected table in the back of the sanctuary.
Operation Christmas Child
It is time to build boxes for Operation Christmas Child. We have 100 boxes to fill with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, etc. These boxes will be shared with kids around the globe as they learn about Jesus, the greatest Gift of all! You can pick up boxes in the back of the sanctuary. Please return them to COG by Nov 21st.

COG is also going to help at the distribution center on Dec 3rd from 6-10 pm. We have spots for 40 people, and you can sign up at the Get Connected table. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old.

If you have questions email Mitty Spidell. You can also learn more about Operation Christmas Child by going to their website.
Grace Gathering 1313
Everyone is invited to come to the COG North Building for fellowship time on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 1-3 pm. There is no agenda except to spend time together. Coffee and light snacks will be provided.

Women's Bible Study
Do you want a closer relationship with God? The Friday morning women's Bible study is meeting both on Zoom and in-person on Friday mornings at 9:30 am.

Life in the Presence of God: Practices for Living in the Light of Eternity by Kenneth Boa is helping us learn to cultivate a greater awareness of God in our everyday living using biblical foundations, living and historical examples, and evidence from neuroscience. We can walk and abide in God's presence by rethinking how we use our time and technology to make room for God through practical exercises and disciplines that will help us draw close to God.

For further details, please sign up at the Get Connected table.
Men's Bible Study
Men, do you need a place to be encouraged and challenged? Join Pastor Joel for a time of looking into God's Word and applying it to your life. We meet from 6:00 to 7:00 am on Tuesday mornings. Email Pastor Joel if you have questions. We are meeting in person in the North Building.
Celebrations
Youth - DNOW Weekend
DNOW is a fun-filled weekend designed to disciple our 6th through 12th grade students, and this year we combined our weekend with Element Church and hosted 42 students! Our focus was getting into God's Word to see what it means to take our faith to the Next Level. We challenged our students to own a Next Level faith, to unlock and build a Next Level faith and to live out their Next Level faith in their areas of influence.

Hunter Hall of Journey Point Church led us in engaging worship, while Adam Young -- lead pastor of Element Church – challenged students through his teaching during three large group sessions. After each session, we broke out into age specific family groups to unpack and contextualize our teaching times.

Mixed between our teaching times, we of course had to have some fun with SOGCOG favorites like gaga ball and Nine Square in the Air. We had some added fun when we turned our North worship center into a laser tag arena!

In all, DNOW is one of our biggest events of the year, and this weekend didn't disappoint! If you are interested in learning more about the Student Ministry at Community of Grace or are interested in getting connected, check out the Student Ministry page on our website for upcoming events and email Pastor J. at J@communityofgrace.com
