Reminder: Paid Sick Leave Hours Are Expiring on June 30

For IHSS providers that are eligible for paid sick leave hours, this is a reminder that any earned sick leave hours remaining in your balance after June 30 will be lost. Unused sick leave does not carry-over to the next fiscal year (which starts 7/1/2024).

You can see how many hours you have remaining, either on your pay stub (if you are paid by check) or by logging in to your Electronic Services Portal (ESP) account. Sick leave hours can be claimed in two ways: By submitting an electronic copy of the Sick Leave Request Form online via the ESP portal or by submitting a hard copy of the Sick Leave Request Form (SOC 2302). To request a hard copy of this form, please call our office at 805-654-3416.

Increase in Paid Sick Leave Hours

Senate Bill 616 increased IHSS providers' paid sick leave accrual from 24 hours to 40 hours in each year of active employment. Qualifying existing IHSS providers who have met sick leave accrual requirements can expect to see the increase of 40 hours effective 7/1/2024.

More people are now eligible for Medi-Cal! Starting January 2024, assets no longer count toward Medi-Cal eligibility. Assets include your car, house, bank accounts, and more. Income will continue to be counted. Learn more at GetMedi-CalCoverage.dhcs.ca.gov.

Medi-Cal helps you and your family stay healthy. Even if you've been denied for full Medi-Cal recently, see if you're eligible now. Immigration status does not matter. Applying will not affect your immigration status. Learn more at GetMedi-CalCoverage.dhcs.ca.gov.
