"My mom (Betty Voth) just turned 90 at the end of August. I did not tell her that I had requested birthday cards from LAI writers. Over the month of August (and she still is receiving cards now) she was sent over 70 birthday cards! I cannot express her shock and surprise! Our family got together for her birthday and we read aloud all the cards. We laughed and cried together as we were simply amazed at the love and compassion shown to a complete stranger. I have been writing letters with LAI for about a year now and love every minute of it. Now that I have a family member that was blessed by these cards, I now realize the amazing impact they have! Thank you SO much to everyone who took the time to send a card to her! My sister was so impressed that she is now signing up to be a letter writer for LAI. Thank you for your generous spirits and amazing compassion."

I hope you have had a wonderful week! We have been hard at work gearing up for the next phase of LAI. You have been busy too! This week, Letters Against Isolation writers have pledged to write more than 4,000 letters. Let's keep the momentum rolling.

I wanted to share Shirley's story about her mother's birthday for a reason. Letters Against Isolation's Birthday Brigade brings such joy. Many senior citizens cannot celebrate milestone birthdays with their loved ones, so your letters are so meaningful to them. This week, we are celebrating Mary's 95th.
