Dear HNPS Families,
Last evening, we celebrated our 6th graders with a graduation ceremony in the church. We are thankful for the opportunity to gather and celebrate their achievements as we send them off to many excellent secondary schools.

Over the last week, the 6th graders participated in some of our typical end-of-year traditions: a class mass, a class lunch, and gathering to watch a class video. We are happy that they had the chance to create these final memories at Holy Name.

The 6th graders have been wonderful role models for all of our students this year. I would like to thank them for their leadership and their many contributions to our school community. We wish them great success at their next schools.

I'd like to thank all of our faculty for the role they played in shaping our graduates. I'd like to thank Mr. Gordon and Mr. Reilly for the work they put into planning the graduation. In addition, I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to making our graduation a success: Ms. Chiappini, Mrs. O'Malley, Mrs. Beatrice, Mrs. Hill, Maureen Connell, Jim Flanagan, Tom Manguem, and Cristian Mateo.

Enjoy the weekend.

Best regards,

Mr. Chisholm

Hands-On, Active Learning
The 3rd and 4th grades engaged in hands-on, active learning over the last week. In a STEM unit, 3rd graders learned about oil spills. They explored how to clean oil spills effectively. Working in groups, students had a budget and had to design and purchase items to create an effective method for cleaning up an oil spill. The project combined science, engineering, and math, but also asked students to be creative and collaborative. Meanwhile, the 4th graders put their geometry skills to use and designed miniature golf courses complete with tricky angles and sand traps.
LEtGO Your Mind @ HNPS
LEtGO Your Mind, a summer STEM and robotics camp, will be hosting its program at Holy Name for two weeks. The camp and program is operated by LEtGO Your Mind; Holy Name is just the site. The camp is a good option for anyone looking for early summer activities. For more information or to register, please visit LEtGO Your Mind's website.
Celebrating Our Faith
Summer Faith Fun Calendars

  • Our main goal as Catholic parents is to help our children get to Heaven. Their best opportunity for doing so is to grow up surrounded by adults who authentically practice their Faith and to remain active and practicing Catholics throughout their lives. Our main article on page one gives details.
  • This seemingly unending pandemic can lead many of us to lose hope for the future. Yet, hope is our gift as children of God. Our Why Do Catholics Do That feature explains.
  • In honor of Father’s Day – and the Year of St. Joseph - our main article on page two holds up St. Joseph as a role model for all fathers. Although an ordinary man, he had an extraordinary task. Fathers can take note of what he did so they can follow in his footsteps.
  • Note: Also enclosed are your free Summer Faith Fun Calendars with a faith-based activity for every day of the summer. Accessible by any family, you can distribute them to your entire parish.
Updates from Nurse Molly
From the daily health screenings, doctor referrals, quarantines and everything else in between, I would like to thank the entire Holy Name community for all of your support and cooperation this year while we navigated school during a global pandemic. As challenging as it may have been, we were able to remain open for in-person learning for the entire year. None of that would have been possible without everyone’s complete participation. Again, thank you.

The American Academy of Pediatrics HealthyChildren Summer Magazine has information for family fun activities such as, screen-free playtime, cooking together and giving back to the community. It also includes articles on the importance of self care and taking time to recharge. Remember to take care of yourselves this summer by staying, not only physically healthy, but emotionally and spiritually healthy as well.

The Daily Health Screening form should be completed in the SNAP Health Portal each day. The portal can be accessed here: www.studentehr.com.
Home and School Notes
Thank you!

Home and School wants to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone in the school community and beyond who has helped our fundraising efforts to be so successful this year. With your generous support we were able to raise $45,000 for the school this year!

These dollars support the operating budget of our great school and are going to help defray the cost of two new literacy curricula including new books and digital platforms that will be implemented next year. This year, we were also able to use funds to purchase air purifiers for the school and to support the school in purchasing Holy Name masks. We also provide $3,000 each year for scholarships for two graduating 6th graders. Thank you again for all of your support. We are truly grateful to have such an amazing school community.
