Celebrating Memorial Day

Today our nation remembers the sacrifices of so many ... those whose actions allow us to speak our opinions openly, participate in our government, and worship freely.

In the midst of cookouts and moments with family today, let us remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is our freedom. Let us forever be grateful.

May we also take time to honor those who lost their lives on the front lines of the pandemic.

Today we celebrate all our heroes.

“Alone with God.”

God our loving and merciful Father, we thank you for the gift of life and friendship. Thank you for this new day. As we remember today those who offered their lives for the country and we celebrate Memorial Day, make us grateful and thankful for their heroism and nationalism. Protect our soldiers. Send St. Michael and all your angels to protect all soldiers from the evil forces that constantly threatens the peace and order in the world. Most of all, we thank you for constantly protecting us from evil. Indeed, we are not alone. Like the Lord Jesus in today’s gospel, we are also convinced that you are always there for us, to protect and defend us from every danger and harm. When we are united with you, we stand, but when we are divided and separated from you, we surely fall. Keep us united in your love and friendship with one another. Grant all these through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Juliana, pray for us.
