Session News
  • Session approved the Facility Use Request of Grace Notes for use of the Sanctuary on July 23, 2021, for a recital.

  • Session approved the Facility Use Request of “Our Gratitude Speaks” (Narcotics Anonymous) for use of the Great Hall on July 24 for a fellowship event.

  • Session approved the reassignment of Joseph and Jacob John to the Inactive Roll at the request of Rosemary John.

  • Session approved further exploration concerning entering into a Servitude Agreement with America Homeland (developer of adjoining property).

Committee Reports

Christian Education & Congregational Care
  • Homebound members continue to be contacted by mail, email or phone on a regular basis.
  • Two after-worship hospitalities have been held: May 23 to celebrate Pentecost and Highland’s birthday, and July 11 to celebrate members having a birthday in July
  • Brandon and Sharyn Lithgoe who are moving to Texas were recognized for their active participation in the church community with a pictorial book and Highland Church coffee mugs.
  • Lagniappe Ladies met June 30 at Albasha’s. Plans are to meet again on August 11.
  • One of the classrooms is currently being used to store household goods for a church member who has been displaced.

Evangelism/Membership
  • The average attendance for June was 18. There were three visitors in June.











Committee Reports (cont.)

Financial
  • For the month of May, expenses of $10,526.44 exceeded income of $5,705.04 by ($4,821.40).
  • For the month of June, income of $6,688.92 exceeded expenses of $4,267.72 by $2,421.20.

Missions
  • The Pentecost Offering totaled $525.00.  Forty percent ($210.00) will go to the Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services of Baton Rouge.

Property
  • Options for improving yard maintenance will be explored.

Worship
  • Sermons by Rev. Jeff Day :
  1. June 13 – Reassurance, Acts. 23:1-11, Psalm 119:41-49
  2. June 20 – Father’s Day - Rev. Jeff was not well and was unable to attend. The sermon he had planned was The Lord Will Make a Way Somehow, Acts 23:12-24, Psalm 23 (the service was held as planned minus the sermon).
  3. June 27 – The Gentle Disturber, Acts 24:1-27, Psalm 1
  4. July 4 – Independence Day - God’s Intervening Love, Acts 25:1-12, Psalm 14
  5. July 11 – Waiting in Hope, Acts 25:13-26:1, Romans 8:18-27
  6. July 18 – The service was cancelled due to the COVID virus. An abbreviated Service was provided by Rev. Jeff on Facebook with our musicians.
