LARGO CENTRAL PARK
Join the City of Largo in honoring those who have lost their lives while fighting for our country on Monday, May 31 at 7pm. The event will be held at the Military Court of Honor in Largo Central Park.
As a reminder, all City facilities will be closed on Monday, May 31 in honor of Memorial Day. Trash and recycling will not be collected on May 31. Monday to Tuesday, June 1, and Tuesday to Wednesday, June 2. View the Collection Schedule to find your pick-up day.

PRIDE FLAG RAISING | TUESDAY, JUNE 1
The City of Largo will be raising the Pride Flag on Tuesday, June 1 at 12pm on the side lawn of City Hall at 201 Highland Ave. Community members are welcome to attend. In honor of the Stonewall Uprising, each June communities across America celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month. Let's celebrate our community together and support Largo's vision to be the Community of Choice in Tampa Bay for all.

CONGRATS TO OUR 2021 HOME RULE HEROES
The Florida League of Cities, the united voice for Florida’s municipal governments, recently recognized Mayor Woody Brown, Commissioner John Carroll and Commissioner Jamie Robinson with a 2021 Home Rule Hero Award for their hard work and advocacy efforts during the 2021 Legislative Session. These individuals worked tirelessly throughout the session to promote local voices making local choices, protect the Home Rule powers of Florida’s municipalities and advance the League’s legislative agenda. Congratulations, and thank you for your continued efforts in building the Community of Choice in Tampa Bay.
LARGO WINS HERMES CREATIVE AWARD FOR COVID-19 COMMUNICATIONS
The City of Largo is proud to announce the Communications & Engagement (C&E) team received the prestigious 2021 Hermes Creative Platinum Award for a comprehensive overview of COVID-19 communications. The work awarded was a comprehensive recap of the successes and challenges in keeping team members and our community connected to vital services and resources during facility closures and stay-at-home orders all while supporting community resilience and promoting individual health and safety.

Out of 6,500 entries, the City of Largo was among the 17% who received the top (Platinum) Award. This award is a tremendous accomplishment to showcase the collaboration with team members in various city departments that worked beyond their traditional roles to serve the Largo community. Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing, and design of traditional and emerging media. SPECIAL GALLERY EXHIBIT COMING TO LARGO PUBLIC LIBRARY
BEACHES, BENCHES & BOYCOTTS | JUNE 1-JULY 30
This exhibit will feature documents, advertisements, photographs and other memorabilia that accurately present the history of Civil Rights in our communities, while illuminating our region's struggle with racial equality, and shining a light on the local leaders who changed our cities.
COURAGEOUS TWELVE | THURSDAY, JUNE 10 | 6PM
Author of Urban Buffalo Soldiers: The Story of St. Petersburg’s Courageous Twelve, Leon Jackson will discuss his book and experiences as a member of the Courageous Twelve.

SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW UPDATE
As an ongoing effort to eliminate sanitary sewer overflows in the City of Largo, Engineering Services is pleased to announce all of the Lift Station 20 basin Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) and major pipe corrective actions are complete. The Lift Station 20 basin is located southeast of the Indian Rocks Road and Wilcox Road intersection. The work completed included:

  • Manholes Rehabilitated: 97
  • Manholes Replaced: 12
  • Pipe Lining: 4,462 linear feet
  • Pipe Replaced: 4,651 linear feet
  • Public Lateral Lining and Clean-out Installation: 25

This work would not have been possible without the full support from field staff in both the Environmental Services and Engineering Services Departments.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
9190 Ulmerton Warehouse II (SPR120-019) 9190 Ulmerton Road

On May 20, the City of Largo issued a Development Order to Steve Luper of IBR Holdings, LLC, for the property located at 9190 Ulmerton Road. The property covers approximately 4.66 acres and is designated Industrial Limited (IL) on the City of Largo Future Land Use Map. The Development Order authorizes the property to be developed to include constructing a 26,250-square-foot general industrial building, installing landscape buffers and signage, and completing associated infrastructure improvements as depicted on the approved site plan.
