Dear First Lutheran Members and Friends,

The Strategic Vision Task Force would like to “take the pulse” of the congregation of First Lutheran Church, our ministries and community, and find ways for the congregation of First Lutheran to feel more connected, comfortable, and cared for.

A short 9 question survey has been created to help gather information from our members.  All responses will remain anonymous.

If you wish to complete this survey on paper, please contact Dawn at the church office, and a copy of the survey will be mailed to you.

Thank you in advance for taking a few minutes to help as our church moves forward after the Pandemic.

Everyone is Invited

to attend a Fellowship Event

Hosted by the Strategic Vision

Task Force

The Strategic Vision Task Force will be hosting a fellowship event on Sunday, June 5th after the 9:30am worship service. This event will take place in the Fellowship Hall where there will be food, coffee, and fellowship. This fellowship event is to welcome back everyone since we were apart during the pandemic.  We have missed you!

There will also be paper copies of the survey available to fill out provided by the Strategic Task Force.

The Strategic Task Force was created with these goals in mind:

Their purpose is to chart possibilities as our congregation moves forward. The issues that merit examination and thought are:

  • Our traditions;

  •  Our flourishing current ministries;

  •  Our resources, emerging from the pandemic;

  •  Changes resulting from the pandemic;

  •  New and fresh opportunities for ministry arising from our traditions.

Please Join Us for Fun and Fellowship!

FLC’S BREAD FOR THE WORLD OFFERING OF LETTERS event will take place in connection with the worship services on Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5.  This year our emphasis will be on the Farm Bill, scheduled for reauthorization in 2023.  In addition to farm policies and programs it includes spending for nutrition programs, primarily the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, enabling tens of millions of people across the country to put food on the table.  Please join us in writing or signing letters to our members of Congress to pass legislation that strengthens and improves both local and international food aid programs, advances equity for socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers, and contributes to national climate goals.   Should you be unable to attend worship on the appointed days, please refer to the June Ambassador for a sample letter you may use as a model for your own letters. You may either mail your letters directly or bring them to church so they can be counted with others written or signed by FLC members. The letters should be addressed to each of our three Congress, people, namely:  Representative Adrian Smith, U.S. House of Representatives, Washington, D.C. 20505; Senator Ben Sasse, and Senator Deb Fischer, (separate letters) both sent to U.S. Senate, Washington D.C. 20510.

Are you looking for another way to serve our Lord? FLC SOCIAL CONCERNS COMMITTEE is seeking new members. Come join a busy team that works to help others in the community and around the globe, and who truly desire to “Serve as Jesus Serves.” If this sounds like you, please contact Lynette Jennings, John Mark Nielsen, Jim Peterson, Trudy Hutton, Jess Fredericksen, or Eric Filows. Or—just come to our next meeting on Monday, May 16, in the church library.

Please note there is both a plastic and a wooden Receptacle for gifts to the WASHINGTON COUNTY FOOD PANTRY are available to receive your food donations at FLC at any time!
