Apple Professional Learning is offering the following free remote learning opportunities throughout November:

  • Virtual conferences: 60-minutes sessions are offered twice daily, Tuesday through Thursday. In these hands-on sessions, educators will explore helpful resources, practice new skills, and reflect on ways Apple technology can support great learning and teaching. Visit apple.co/apl to learn more and register.

  • Personal or small group coaching: Meet with an Apple Professional Learning Specialist to learn new skills and ask questions about Apple technology in the context of learning and teaching. To schedule a 30-minute personal coaching session, send an email to: AppleProfessionalLearning@apple.com

IDEAcon is one of the Midwest’s largest ed tech conferences. Hosted by IDEA every February, thousands of educators from Illinois and across the U.S. join together to learn about sound pedagogical practices in education and how to leverage technology to engage, inspire, and reach all learners. We have a limited number of seats.  If you are interested in being selected to attend please fill out the form by this Friday, 11/19.  We will confirm if you are approved to register.

Student Services

CHAMPS/ Foundations:

This year has brought a higher level of stress for all teachers and staff due to more student misbehaviors than past years. If you have 3 or more students who are chronically misbehaving in your classroom then a next step is spending time assessing and adjusting classroom management support for your students.

  • You can use the STOIC Self Assessment to evaluate your strengths, needs, and areas for improvement in your general classroom management to impact student behaviors. Your CHAMPS book is broken down by the STOIC variables, and is a great resource to go back into the section related to areas that may need to be re-examined.

  • If there is a day where you go home tired from correcting misbehavior, the CHAMPS vs. Daily Reality Tool is helpful to determine the reality in your classroom and which activities you may need to re-teach the expectations.

If there is an identified need that you feel you have exhausted the ideas in your toolbox or just want to explore or revisit ideas with a thought partner feel free to reach out to Stacey Weber, District Behavior Coach.

Technology

Have you tried using NearPod with your students?

How about Flocabulary with their week in rap videos?

NearPod and Flocabulary are very engaging and easy to integrate into your lessons.  Ask your iCoach for support on getting started. Linked above are tutorials/lessons to consider. Both tools are inside of Clever and paid subscriptions. Your classes are already made once you enter the tool inside of Clever.

Apple Classroom allows teachers to view, remote control, and transfer files to students.  If you haven’t experienced this yet, your iCoach can get you started. This is a quick overview of Classroom
