THANK YOU, YOUTH GROUP!

Last week our Clothing Ministry had the chance to host our own youth group to assist with the many tasks of preparing our refurbished space to reopen on Monday, August 2! Having seen this group in action in the past, we had high expectations for what they would accomplish, and they still exceeded our goals!

Last Wednesday and Thursday, two groups of 12 of our youth, along with their chaperones and a few clothing ministry volunteers, worked a three-hour shift to process the donations we had received from each of our four collection days in May and June. This group of about 35 people made it through ALL the hundreds of bags, and they are now sorted by department and season. They also unloaded, sorted, and organized all the shoe donations and many bins of coat hangers, and sorted, organized, and loaded our consumables (diapers, wipes, underwear, socks, etc) onto storage shelves.

We are so grateful for their tireless work ethic and tremendous output, all while working together so easily and enjoying their time just being with each other! The Clothing Ministry team thanks them for their invaluable contributions!

SUNDAY SCHOOL
GREETERS NEEDED

It has been so good to see folks gathering again for in-person Sunday School, although many classes are still choosing to meet virtually, and some will be starting back in the coming weeks. Beginning this Sunday, we are in need of one greeter at the back parking lot door from 9:15-10:15am to stand there and offer welcome and remind congregants to sign-in and wear their masks in the common areas. Please sign-up here, and for any questions email Crystal Bacon.
FROM THE LIBRARY

As the congregation returns to its normal activities, the library volunteers request that people return all overdue books. Please also note that at this time, the library is not accepting donations due to lack of shelf space. We encourage our members of all ages to visit our church library!
PEER ADVOCATES FOR HOUSING ALL

In October of 2020, the Housing All Fund began as a collaborative partnership between First Baptist Church and Pullen Memorial Baptist Church in Raleigh. Both congregations were assisting their neighbors in need with rental and utility assistance, but the sheer volume of people needing help was too much for one church to shoulder independently. We hope that this fund can grow to be a multi-church, inter-faith effort, with congregations partnering together all across Wake County. We believe that we can do more together than we can apart.

To help us meet our goal of keeping families together in their homes, we need volunteers as peer advocate support. Peer advocates are responsible for answering voice mail, assisting with financial request intake, and providing accessible resources to people seeking help. There will be a Housing All training in July on Mondays from 1:30-3pm. The dates are as follows:

July 12
July 19
July 26

The training will be in the library of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church. Please email Leah to sign-up, or for any further questions.
SIGN-UP BY THURSDAY FOR THE BLOOD DRIVE

On Sunday, June 27, from 12-4pm, we will be hosting The Blood Connection in the Fellowship Hall for a blood drive. The local blood supply in North Carolina is dangerously low after months of COVID-19. Our community is reaching a critical need, and getting closer to a local blood shortage due to low donor turnout. This is one simple way that we can give of our selves to save the lives of our neighbors. Make your appointment through the Blood Connection website, and please sign-up by this Thursday, June 24! All donors will receive a $20 eGift card! For any questions, please email Leah.
SUNDAY REMINDERS

We have officially opened the doors for Sunday School! Below are a couple things to remember as you come to the church building on Sundays, or any other time during the week.

• Masks are still required in all common areas of our church building -- in hallways, bathrooms, and the sanctuary (for the duration of worship). Fully vaccinated adults can remove their masks when in a room with adults; those not vaccinated are encouraged to still wear them. While we know and celebrate that many of you are fully vaccinated, we are remaining vigilant with masking in all shared spaces until our children and youth have had the opportunity to receive their shots.

• For Sunday School attendees, the back parking lot door with the covered ramp will be the only door unlocked beginning at 9:15am. In addition to the parking lot door, the main front doors of the Capitol Square will be unlocked at 10:15am for worship. We are still requiring sign-ins at both doors when you enter the building.

We appreciate your patience as we adjust to a new rhythm on Sunday mornings!
JUNE MISSION PROJECT

For the month of June, we are collecting money ($300 is needed) that will go to provide beach towels for approximately 45 children who will attend Camp Hope. The camp is sponsored by InterAct and is for children who have experienced or have been exposed to violence in their homes. FBC member Allison Strickland is the director of InterAct and she recently hosted a virtual event with the congregation to give information on this important agency and the work that they do. If you would like to contribute, please make your check out to FBC and put "Camp Hope" in the memo line. You may mail it to the church to the attention of our Finance Manager, Katherine Rattie, or drop it off in the office during the week or in the collection plate on Sunday.
AAWC'S WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Each week, we post And Also With 'Cue's weekly schedule here in Rose Window Weekly as well as on our Facebook page to let you know our lunch schedule and if there will be outside events on the weekend for you to attend.

We will be closed for lunch this week, June 21-25, for annual family vacations!

WAYS TO GIVE

There are several different ways in which you can continue to support the church financially during this time of social distancing. We know many people are facing their own financial challenges right now and have been very generous already, but a number of people have asked how they could support the church while we are unable to gather together physically. Wayne Hager has provided the following answers to this question.

• We continue to receive mail daily. Any gifts mailed to the church will be processed and deposited as soon as possible.
• We will continue to debit bank accounts through auto drafts as we have been instructed by donors.
• If you have set up a recurring donation through one of our electronic options, those donations will continue without interruption unless YOU make a change.
• If you wish to begin electronic giving, please go to this link where each of our options is explained.
• If you are considering a stock gift, please visit this link for instructions.

If you have any financial or giving-option questions, please email Wayne Hager.
CURRENT OFFICE PROCEDURES
DURING THE PANDEMIC

While the church office will remain closed to the public for the immediate future, we have someone in the office Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm to answer the phone and let people in for pre-approved activities. The staff and Church Council continue to monitor all realities related to COVID-19. In addition, we have formed a Risk Management Team (RMT) made up of John Baldwin, Sam Ewell, Ron Maness (chair), Alice Marshbanks, and Hollis Yelverton to help us make decisions. The RMT has developed a list of guidelines which can be found here. Any group wishing to schedule an in-person meeting or activity should contact Wayne Hager. We still encourage you to contact any of the ministers if you have a pressing need, using the following email links: Chris Chapman, Lynn Lingafelt, Leah Reed, and Michael Hood.
