Input for Audit Plan FY 2022
My office is developing our audit plan for FY 2022. Each year I present an audit plan to City Council that serves as an overview of the areas we plan to audit over the course of the year. We welcome input from all community members about areas we should consider auditing. If you have an audit idea, let us know! Fill out this quick form to submit your audit ideas.

To create our annual audit plan, we develop a list of potential audits based on information from a variety of sources, including the community, elected officials, City staff and management, issues raised in previous audits, assessment of citywide risks, financial conditions, and policy issues. We prioritize potential audits using a risk-based approach that examines many factors that may expose the City to fraud, misuse of funds, waste, liability, and other potential harm. The plan considers what we can accomplish within our staff capacity and resource constraints, and serves as a living document that allows us to change course when it is in the best interest of the City.
Presentation of Fleet Fund Audit on July 21
On July 21, I will present a detailed report of our fleet fund audit to the City Council’s Facilities, Infrastructure, Transportation, Environment and Sustainability Committee. The audit report, titled Berkeley’s Fleet Replacement: Fund Short by Millions is item 3 of the agenda. You can provide public comment or email members of the committee to provide your input.
National Night Out on August 3rd
After being canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19, this National Night Out returns on Tuesday, August 3rd. National Night Out is a nationwide effort to build and strengthen relationships among neighbors. Each August, Berkeley neighbors come together for an evening of block parties, BBQs, and ice cream socials. Staff from the City visit events throughout the city to say hello, as do Berkeley's elected officials. I look forward to attending several of these events on August 3rd.

To host a National Night Out party in your neighborhood, register your event online by July 30th. All registered events will be listed on this interactive map. Visit the City’s website to learn more and register your event.
City Council Summer Recess
June 27th will be the last City Council meeting before summer recess begins on July 28th. The next regular meeting after recess will be on September 14th.
