Project Updates
North Park Stream Study

The Parks Foundation is working with the Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward Program of Allegheny County to complete ecological stream assessments in all 9 County Parks over a three-year period. This year the conditions of the streams in North Park, Boyce Park and South Park will be studied through the assessment of their chemistry, macro-invertebrate biological community and the physical condition using standardized procedures. In February, we joined the Penn State Watershed team in North Park to observe their processes across four sites. During this assessment, the team helped to clean up the waterways by removing tires that had been dumped, which has the added benefit of leaving the streams better than they were found.

Ways to Support
Give a Gift in Honor of Someone
this March!

There are moments in life when we wish to pay tribute to those who have touched our lives in profound ways. There is no better way to celebrate their birthday or legacy than by making a positive impact in their name to a cause that matters to them! This month, we encourage you to make a donation in honor of someone dear to your heart who loves the outdoors in our region as much as you do.
