Friends,
While the current world of Higher Education is very challenging for many small private colleges, you can be assured that the colleges that are investing in their students — such as St. Thomas Aquinas College — are well prepared for the future. Here at STAC, we are making a number of major investments this summer to prepare our students for their futures.
Student Success
- Launching a new “STAR” program this summer to allow entering freshmen to take two Math and English classes and live on campus for FREE for one month during the summer to help ease their transition and get a jumpstart on their academic preparedness prior to entering in the fall.
- Expanding our Aquinas Leaders program to provide highly qualified students with new academic (see AI Summit below), community service, and leadership development experiences to prepare them for success in the future, as they start their Spartan Journeys.
(FREE iPads are provided to all students in both programs.)
Student Engagement
- Creating a meaningful and fun-filled program of opportunities for students to make friends, join clubs, attend events, volunteer, play sports, and become part of a special STAC community.
- Significantly expanding our resources and commitment to supporting the mental health and wellness needs of our students.
Experiential Learning
- Embedding Experiential Learning right into the curriculum with our new STAC 102 and 201 career prep courses for freshmen and sophomores.
- Expanding our commitment to helping our students find co-ops, internships, and student-teaching opportunities in their chosen fields, especially as they approach their junior and senior years.
Lifelong Learning
- Launching a new "ADVANCE" Graduate and Certificate Program for Lifelong Learners to ensure students and members of the College community can advance their education and careers in a convenient and cost effective manner.
- Revamping our MBA and MPA programs and introducing new Masters programs in Healthcare Management and Informatics, Human Resources, and TESOL, as well as our first-ever STEM Masters Program in Exercise Science.
Facilities Investments for the Future
- Expanded our campus footprint in recent years from 60 to 76 acres — with new student center, career center, fitness center, classrooms, dorms, dining, and athletic facilities — and will be investing in campus beautification projects, accessibility upgrades, and technology enhancements over the Summer.
- Progressing on our transformational investments in the SKAE Astronomy Center, new Volleyball Center, and proposed Track & Field.

Student Success: Summer Programs for Our Spartans
|
|
|
|
St. Thomas Aquinas College students and recent alumni have jump-started their career success through our Skills Immersion Summer Program! The program is a multi-day, interactive, professional development program designed to provide key insights for experiential learning and/or post-graduation job searches. Students developed their professional brand, learned search strategies, networking approaches, and interviewing skills through individual and group work.
Experiential Learning has been embedded into our curriculum for freshmen and sophomore students. In STAC 102, students engage in community-based learning experiences to connect, engage, and reflect on their goals and strengths, strategically assess the many opportunities on campus, articulate their goals, and connect college to post-graduation.
STAC 201 ensures students have an action plan for starting career activities, communication skills, and fundamental collateral (e.g. resume, LinkedIn profile, or electronic portfolio) to move forward with securing experiential learning opportunities.
