Tonight's Wednesday Mass
When words fail us in times of grief and anger at evil injustice, the liturgy speaks for us. We normally celebrate Mass on Wednesdays at 6 pm in the Lady Chapel, but tonight's Mass will be offered with special intentions for those who died in the Texas school shooting, for families and friends who grieve in the wake of unimaginable suffering, and for prayers for God's mercy on us and on our broken society  If you can't join us in person, please pause at 6 pm and offer a prayer from where you are.

Thy Kingdom Come: Global Anglican Novena for Pentecost
The Archbishop of Canterbury has invited all Anglicans to pray a novena together during the 9 days between the feast of the Ascension (which is Thursday, May 26) and Pentecost (June 5). You may pray any novena to the Holy Spirit during these days, or you may simply pray the Our Father each day, or your own prayers, with the special intention of opening yourself in fuller surrender to the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which empower us to serve in love.

The Archbishop has written a booklet of reflections on 1 Peter that you may wish to accompany your prayers during this time. You can find his reflections at: https://www.thykingdomcome.global/sites/default/files/2022-02/TKC%20Novena%202022%20DOWNLOAD.pdf

The Diocese of Canterbury has other resources available that you may access here:

Here are some other prayers you may wish to use during these days of special prayer:

St. Augustine's Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen.

Collect for Purity
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you, no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our
hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessings to you all, as we open our hearts to the transforming and healing energies of the Holy Spirit.
