Save the Date for our Virtual Gala!
Saturday, October 10, 2020
Join Compass Health from the comfort of your own home on Saturday, October 10, 2020 for our virtual Building Communities of Hope Gala!
In accordance to social distancing guidelines set by the CDC, we have decided to move our Gala online this year! Although we will be enjoying each other's company virtually, the Gala will still be the same night of hope and community that we all have enjoyed in years past.
Now, more than ever, we see the effects of racism, discrimination, and trauma on mental health. The events of the past few months, in addition to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, reinforce the importance of community mental health services.
This year, funds raised at our Gala will support our children, youth, and family programs. Your support ensures our ability to maintain these services during times of crisis and uncertainty.

Read our 2019 Annual Report
|
These days, it seems reflection is a natural part of day-to-day life. Over the last few months, the COVID-19 pandemic and growing awareness of the systemic disenfranchisement and racism levied at Black people and other people of color have compelled urgent reflection in all of us. As a behavioral health provider, we understand that physical and mental health are
directly impacted by the effects of racism and trauma.
Since our beginnings over a century ago, our mission has always been to serve vulnerable members of our community, including those who are overlooked and underserved by
traditional health systems.
We hope our 2019 recap inspires both reflection and hope, and we invite you to join us in envisioning the possibilities of what we will accomplish together in the future.

Diversity. Equity. Inclusion.
Here's our plan forward.
|
We’re hiring a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consultant to help us identify areas where we can further improve our team’s understanding of complex racial issues and cultural sensitivities of our client care services.
We’re implementing a new internal communications platform that will provide our teams the space and support they need to share ideas, strategies, and aspirations.
We’ve created a Health Equity Committee that will examine health disparities, including those based on racial inequalities, and design, coordinate, and organize health equity activities across our organization and communities.
These are just a few of the initial first steps we are taking to hold ourselves responsible for enacting change. We are prepared to do the work and pledge to continue to evaluate our role as a community-based behavioral health provider to ensure we’re providing equitable care.

Puget Sound Business Journal: “We know that times of stress and uncertainty are especially challenging for those dealing with mental health and substance use disorder issues, so it’s imperative for us to continue counseling and treatment,” said Camis Milam, MD, Compass Health chief medical officer.
425 Business: “We see Bridge as an increasingly important tool that allows us to expand access to treatment for underserved communities, including communities of color and the growing numbers of individuals that are expected to qualify for Medicaid,” Sebastian said in a release. “The funding we’ve received will allow us to continue to make meaningful change across the five counties we serve, meaning we can reach people in rural communities, or people who might seek our services for the first time.”
WhatcomTalk Features MCOT
The outreach team focuses on marginalized community members with hopes to divert them out of trouble and into the care they need. “We work on meeting the needs of what I would define as historically under-served communities, whether we’re talking about their location in the county, their mental health status, even potentially their ethnicity,” says Brandon Foister, director of emergency services. “We’re working to keep individuals out of the emergency departments and jails by assessing the situation and giving the appropriate referrals.”
